4.3 rc2: info about shutdown of last host and networking page

Hello, env with single host HCI deployment from node ng iso After powering off VMs, put into global maintenance, shutdown hosted engine, I then run shutdown on host. This I think would simulate also a total shutdown scenario when you have the final step of shutdown of the final host. This is what I see in console about failure in several unmounts, both /var and /var/log and also gluster related filesystems Could there be any dependency problem? Questions: - how to explain the receiving box graph? What are the different color lines for? - In "receiving" column inside the "interfaces" sections I see all "0" for gluster one (eth1) and empty (no value) for ovirtmgmt (perhaps because it is unmanaged from host point of view?) Also, it seems to me that the temporary bridge for hosted engine deployment on 192.168.124.0 (virbr0) is still there even after finishing the deployment, even if with "no carrier"... is this expected? Better perhaps to undefine the network after deployment? Gianluca

Hosted Engine Storage migration

Hello listmembers! I'm in search of some steps to use to migrate my Hosted-Engine from one NFS storage domain to another different NFS storage domain. One of the possible ways to accomplish this task may already be a feature with oVirt 4.1, I'm using 4.2 https://lists.ovirt.org/pipermail/users/2017-January/078739.html (New feature in 4.1?) Will someone elaborate the steps to use this new feature and how I could use it to accomplish this task? the bug link in the email linked above has a comment (https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=1409112#c12) - does this mean I need to redeploy the hosted-engine? I'm not able to follow as I'm new to oVirt and still learning the ins and outs and design if I'm on the wrong path here please correct me. Thank you, -Joel

Error creating a storage domain (On Cisco UCS Only)

Hi Guys, I am trying to install a new cluster... I currently have a 9 node and two 6 node oVirt Clusters... (these were installed on 4.1 and upgraded to 4.2) So i want to build a new cluster, which is working fine on this HP notebook i use for testing (using single node gluster deployment) But when i try install this on my production servers which are Cisco UCS servers i keep getting this error: [ ERROR ] Error: Fault reason is "Operation Failed". Fault detail is "[Error creating a storage domain]". HTTP response code is 400. [ ERROR ] fatal: [localhost]: FAILED! => {"changed": false, "msg": "Fault reason is \"Operation Failed\". Fault detail is \"[Error creating a storage domain]\". Suggestions on adding 1000 or more networks to an engine/hosts

So we have a use case where our engines will will be hosting development sandbox clusters. We need to have upwards of 1000 networks on some of these. I understand there is no theoretical limit to the number of networks does any body have a good reliable way of instantiating all of these networks. We have been using ansible for POCs and doing 100 Networks have not had a problem getting them on there however when upping the number to many more it begins to take longer and longer between each one and eventually timed iout and only got to 1567 Example Task we are using for this: tasks: - name: Add More Networks ovirt_network: auth: "{{ ovirt_auth }}" data_center: "{{ pcloud_name }}" name: "{{ pcloud_name }}-{{ item }}" state: present label: uplink vlan_tag: "{{ item }}" clusters: - name: "{{ ovirt_cluster }}" assigned: yes required: no display: no migration: no gluster: no with_sequence: start=1551 end=2500 What are some better ways of bulk additions of networks? Would the API provide a better solution so as to sorta bulk cache them then initiate the save?

On the case I'll be able to create an installer, what is the name of the Application need to be there, in order to ovirt detects that Ovirt Guest agent is installed? I have created an installer adding OvirtGuestService files and the Product Name to be shown, a part of the command line post installs.. I have tried with "ovirt-guest-agent" and "Ovirt guest agent" Names for the application installed on Windows 7 guest and even both are presented on ovirt VM Applications tab, on any case LogonVDScommand appears. Hi Everyone, I am encountering the following issue on a single instance hyper-converged 4.2 setup. The following fio test was done: fio --randrepeat=1 --ioengine=libaio --direct=1 --gtod_reduce=1 --name=test --filename=test --bs=4k --iodepth=64 --size=4G --readwrite=randwrite The results are very poor doing the test inside of a vm with a prealocated disk on the ssd store: ~2k IOPS Same test done on the oVirt node directly on the mounted ssd_lvm: ~30k IOPS Same test done, this time on the gluster mount path: ~20K IOPS What could be the issue that the vms have this slow hdd performance ( 2k on ssd !! )? Using the web-ui VM portal through a proxy failing

Dear oVirt Gurus, Using the oVirt user VM portal seems to not work through the squid proxy setup (configured as per the guide). The page loads and login works fine through the proxy, but the asynchronous requests just hang. I've attached a screenshot, but you can see the "api" endpoint just hanging in a web inspector: "https://proxyfqdn/ovirt-engine/api/" [cid:CA42E493-3AD9-45F8-B4C3-C914F059390C@well.ox.ac.uk] This works fine when not going through the proxy. Is there a way to force noVNC HTML as the console mode through the web-ui, or at least have it as an option if not default? The console seems not to work when logged in with a base 'user role'. rgolan asked me to post this here for him. I'm trying the procedure from this blog post: https://ovirt.org/blog/2019/01/ovirt-openshift-part-1.html Ultimate goal is to install ovirt metrics store. I've tried vars.yaml with and without the ovirt metrics stuff commented out. The errors seem to revolve around downloading the centos qcow2c image. With image_path: "{{ lookup('env', 'HOME') }}/Downloads/{{ template_name }}.qcow2" defined, I get the following error: fatal: [localhost]: FAILED! => {"msg": "The task includes an option with an undefined variable. Issues adding iscsi storage domain

Hello everyone, Trying to setup an iscsi target as a storage domain, and it seems not to be possible. Discovered the hosts, the targets are displayed. Selected one target, clicked the "Login" arrow, spinner runs a bit , and the arrow gets grayed out. But no LUNs are displayed, to select from. From this step, I can't go further, if I hit "OK" nothing happends. Just as a thought....ssh into the ovirt node used as initiator, and lsblk command shows the block device as present. So i have to cancel the "New Domain" windows without being able to add the domain, but that iscsi block device still remains present on the hosts. Using 4.2.8 Any thoughts ? Thank you very much ! I upgraded oVirt to 4.2.8 and now I am spammed with the following message in all host syslog. How can I stop/fix this error? ovs-vsctl: ovs|00001|db_ctl_base|ERR|no key "odl_os_hostconfig_hostid" in Open_vSwitch record "." column external_ids

I have an existing 4.2 setup with 2 hosts, both with a quad-gbit NIC and a QNAP TS-569 Pro NAS with twin gbit NIC and five 7k2 drives. At present, the I have 5 VLANs, each with their own subnet as: 1. my "main" net (VLAN 1, 172.16.7.0/24) 2. ovirtmgmt (VLAN 100, 192.168.100.0/24) 3. four storage nets (VLANs 101-104, 192.168.101.0/24 - 192.168.104.0/24) On the NAS, I enslaved both NICs into a 802.3ad LAG and then bound an IP address for each of the four storage nets giving me: * bond0.101@bond0: 192.168.101.101 * bond0.102@bond0: 192.168.102.102 * bond0.103@bond0: 192.168.103.103 * bond0.104@bond0: 192.168.104.104 The hosts are similar, but with all four NICs enslaved into a 802.3ad LAG: Host 1: * bond0.101@bond0: 192.168.101.203 * bond0.102@bond0: 192.168.102.203 * bond0.103@bond0: 192.168.103.203 * bond0.104@bond0: 192.168.104.203 Host 2: * bond0.101@bond0: 192.168.101.204 * bond0.102@bond0: 192.168.102.204 * bond0.103@bond0: 192.168.103.204 * bond0.104@bond0: 192.168.104.204 I believe my performance could be better though. While running bonnie++ on a VM, the NAS reports top disk throughput around 70MB/s and the network (both NICs) topping out around 90MB/s. I suspect I'm being hurt by the load balancing across the NICs. I've played with various load balancing options for the LAGs (src-dst-ip and src-dst-mac) but with little difference in effect. Watching the resource monitor on the NAS, I can see that one NIC almost exclusive does transmits while the other is almost exclusively receives. Hi, I'm running Version 4.2.3.8-1.el7, and after reboot the engine machine no longer could login into administration portal with this error: sun.security.validator.ValidatorException: PKIX path validation faile java.security.cert.CertPathValidatorException: validity check failed I'm using a self signed cert.
