Unable to install oVirt on RHEL7.5

snapshot solution: Existing snapshots that were taken after this one will be erased.

Hi Team, when I want to commit the older snapshots I'm getting warning stating " Existing snapshots that were taken after this one will be erased.". is there any way we can retain the latest snapshots as is in the chain? I knew cloning and template export options are there to secure that latest snapshot data but these are will consume additional space in storage and take time.

Restart oVirt-Engine

SPM and Task error ...

Hi all, my ovirt cluster has got 3 Hypervisors runnig Centos 7.5.1804 vdsm is 4.20.39.1-1.el7, ovirt engine is 4.2.4.5-1.el7, the storage systems are HP MSA P2000 and 2050 (fibre channel). I need to stop one of the hypervisors for maintenance but this system is the storage pool manager. For this reason I decided to manually activate SPM in one of the other nodes but this operation is not successful. How to re-enroll (or renew) host certificates for a single-host hosted-engine deployment?

Hi, I've got a single-host hosted-engine deployment that I originally installed with 4.0 and have upgraded over the years to 4.3.10. I and some of my users have upgraded remote-viewer and now I get an error when I try to view the console of my VMs: (remote-viewer:8252): Spice-WARNING **: 11:30:41.806: ../subprojects/spice-common/common/ssl_verify.c:477:openssl_verify: Error in server certificate verification: CA signature digest algorithm too weak (num=68:depth0:/O=<My Org Name>/CN=<Host's Name>) I am 99.99% sure this is because the old certs use SHA1. I reran engine-setup on the engine and it asked me if I wanted to renew the PKI, and I answered yes. This replaced many[1] of the certificates in /etc/pki/ovirt-engine/certs on the engine, but it did not update the Host's certificate. All the documentation I've seen says that to refresh this certificate I need to put the host into maintenance mode and then re-enroll.. However I cannot do that, because this is a single-host system so I cannot put the host in local mode -- there is no place to migrate the VMs (let alone the Engine VM). So.... Is there a command-line way to re-enroll manually and update the host certs? Or some other way to get all the leftover certs renewed? Changing disk QoS causes segfault with IO-Threads enabled (oVirt 4.3.0.4-1.el7)

We recently upgraded to 4.3.0 and have found that when changing disk QoS settings on VMs whilst IO-Threads is enabled causes them to segfault and the VM to reboot. We've been able to replicate this across several VMs. VMs with IO-Threads disabled/turned off do not segfault when changing the QoS. oVirt host deploy: disable multipath

https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=1472356 There are 2 drives in my install that oVirt is claiming as multipath. I have tried blacklisting at /etc/multipath/ but that hasn't worked. Any better solutions? I need these 2 drives to be non-multipathed.

Out-of-sync networks can only be detached

Hi, I have a 3-node oVirt cluster. I have configured 2 logical networks: ovirtmgmt and public. Public logical network is attached in only 2 nodes and failing to attach on the 3rd node with the below error Invalid operation, out-of-sync network 'public' can only be detached. Network Address Change

Hi All: I just has a case, I need to change the oVirt host and engine IP address due to data center decommission I checked in the hosted-engine host there are some files I could change ; in ovirt-hosted-engine/hosted-engine.conf ca_subject="O=simple.com, CN=1.2.3.4" gateway=1.2.3.254 and of course I need to change the ovirtmgmt interface IP too, I think just change the above line could do the tick, but where could I change the other host IP in the cluster ? I think I have to be lost all the host as once changed the hosted-engine host IP as it is in diff. sub net. Does there any command line tools could do that or someone has such experience could share? Hello, We are about to change our backup provider, and I find it is a great chance to choose a full supported ovirt backup solution. I currently use this python script vm-backup-scheduler (https://github.com/wefixit-AT/oVirtBackup) but it is not the workflow officially suggested by the community (https://www.ovirt.org/develop/release-management/features/storage/backup-re…) I've been looking for a long time an ISV who supports such an API, but the only one I found is this one : Acronis Backup Advanced suggested here https://access.redhat.com/ecosystem/search/#/ecosystem/Red%20Hat%20Enterpri… I ran the trial version, but it doesn't seem to do better than the vm-backup-scheduler script, and it doesn't seem to use the backup API (attach a clone as a disk to an existing vm). Can you suggest me some other ISV solutions, if they ever exist... or share me your backup experience?

Hello everyone, I have a replica 2 + arbiter installation and this morning the Hosted Engine gave the following error on the UI and resumed on a different node (node3) than the one it was originally running(node1). (The original node has more memory than the one it ended up, but it had a better memory usage percentage at the time). Also, the only way I discovered the migration had happened and there was an Error in Events, was because I logged in the web interface of ovirt for a routine inspection. USB3 redirection

Hi, I'm trying to assign a USB3 controller to a CentOS 7.4 VM in oVirt 4.1 with USB redirection enabled. I've created the following file in /etc/ovirt-engine/osinfo.conf.d: 01-usb.properties with content os.other.devices.usb.controller.value = nec-xhci and have restarted ovirt-engine. If I disable USB-support in the web interface for the VM, the xhci controller is added to the VM (I can see it in the qemu-kvm commandline), but usb redirection is not available. If I enable USB-support in the UI, no xhci controller is added (only 4 uhci controllers). Is there a way to make the controllers for usb redirection xhci controllers? Hello, how do we manage routing between different OVN networks in oVirt? And between OVN networks and physical ones? Based on architecture read here: http://openvswitch.org/support/dist-docs/ovn-architecture.7.html I see terms for logical routers and gateway routers respectively but how to apply to oVirt configuration? Do I have to choose between setting up a specialized VM or a physical one: is it applicable/advisable to put on oVirt host itself the gateway functionality? Hi ovirt gurus, This is an interesting issue, one I never expected to have. When I push high volumes of writes to my NAS, I will cause VM's to go into a paused state. I'm looking at this from a number of angles, including upgrades on the NAS appliance. I can reproduce this problem at will running a centos 7.9 VM on Ovirt 4.5. *Questions:* 1. Is my analysis of the failure (below) reasonable/correct? 2. What am I looking for to validate this? 3. Is there a configuration that I can set to make it a little more robust while I acquire the hardware to improve the NAS? *Reproduction:* Standard test of file write speed: [root@cen-79-pgsql-01 ~]# dd if=/dev/zero of=./test bs=512k count=4096 oflag=direct 4096+0 records in 4096+0 records out 2147483648 bytes (2.1 GB) copied, 1.68431 s, 1.3 GB/s Give it more data [root@cen-79-pgsql-01 ~]# dd if=/dev/zero of=./test bs=512k count=12228 oflag=direct 12228+0 records in 12228+0 records out 6410993664 bytes (6.4 GB) copied, 7.22078 s, 888 MB/s The odds are about 50/50 that 6 GB will kill the VM, but 100% when I hit 8 GB. *Analysis:* What I think appears to be happening is that the intent cache on the NAS is on an SSD, and my VM's are pushing data about three times as fast as the SSD can handle. When the SSD gets queued up beyond a certain point, the NAS (which places reliability over speed) says "Whoah Nellie!", and the VM chokes. *David Johnson*

The thing is - I've just freshly installed this host and it seems strange that I need to reinstall it. Hello everybody! I'm trying to automate a copy of a VM from one Datacenter to another using an Ansible.playbook. I'm able to: - Create a snapshot of the source VM - create a clone from the snapshot - remove the snapshot - attach an Export Domain - export the clone to the Export Domain - remove the clone - detach the Export domain from the source Datacenter and attach to the destination. Unfortunately I cannot find a module to: - import the VM from the Export Domain - delete the VM image from the Export Domain. Any hint on how to do that? Thanks in advance. Cheers. Snapshot and disk size allocation

I would like to know how disk size and snapshot allocation works, because every time I create a new snapshot, it increases 1 GB in the VM's disk size, and when I remove the snap, that space is not returned to Domain Storage. Hi, In the second engine dep run in Hyperconverged deployment I get red "Ooops!" in cockpit. I think it fails on some networking setup. The first oVirt Node says "Hosted Engine is up!" but the other nodes is not added to HostedEngine yet. There is no network connectivity to the Engine outside node1, I can ssh to engine from node1 on the right IP-address. Please tell what logs I should pull.

Template for Ubuntu 18.04 Server Issues

I have built a system as a template on oVirt. Specifically, Ubuntu 18.04 server. I am noticing an issue when creating new vms from that template. I used the check box for "seal template" when creating the template. When I create a new Ubuntu VM I am getting duplicate IP addresses for all the machines created from the template. It seems like the checkbox doesn't fully function as intended. I would need to do further manual steps to clear up this issue. Has anyone else noticed this behavior? Is this expected or have I missed something? Thanks for your input!

Hi, I'm restoring a full ovirt engine backup, having used the --scope=all option, for oVirt 4.3. I restored the backup on a fresh CentOS7 machine. The process went well, but when trying to log into the restored authentication system I get the following message which won't allow me to log in: The provided authorization grant for the auth code has expired. Removing Direct Mapped LUNs

Hi List, We need to add and remove directly mapped LUNs to multiple VMs in our Non-Production environment. The environment is backed by an iSCSI SAN. In testing when removing a directly mapped LUN it doesn't remove the underlying multipath and devices. Several questions. 1) Is this the expected behavior? 2) Are we supposed to go to each KVM host and manually remove the underlying multipath devices? 3) Is there a technical reason that oVirt doesn't do this as part of the steps to removing the storage? This is something that was handled by the manager in the previous virtualization that we used, Oracle's Xen based Oracle VM. Thanks! Ryan

upgrading gluster brick os from CentOS7 to 8

Hello, I'm in progress of moving my oVirt HCI cluster to production. It was a bit complicated process because I had two new servers to install oVirt from scratch in the lab and three old servers with standalone kvm hypervisors in production. One of them (installed with CentOS7) was good enough to join HCI cluster. All three old kvm servers had production vms running on them. New cluster was installed with CentOS8 and oVirt4.4, I started with single node, then expanded it to two hosts with one another which acts as arbiter (just for stability in lab envirnment). After some testing and tuning I moved this two node cluster (without arbiter node) to my server housing. Then I prepared gluster brick on that one old server which I want reuse and join it to gluster storage so now it is replica 3 - two nodes are CentOS8 based and acts as oVirt hosts, one is CentOS7 and acts also as standalone kvm hypervisor. Then I migrated all vms from standalone kvm hypervisors to oVirt, then switched off two oldest hosts. Now I would like to reinstall CentOS7 node to oVirt host. My plan is to keep gluster brick fs and backup configuration and restore it after reinstall to CentOS8 as mentioned in https://mjanja.ch/2018/08/migrate-glusterfs-to-a-new-operating-system/. I want to speed up gluster healing. Does it make sense? Now the questin: Brick fs was created on CentOS7 and don't have new xfs features FINOBT,SPARSE_INODES,REFLINK. Could it be problem? Will be better to recreate fs in CentOS8 and then do full heal? I am afraid that it will take a long time and make big load to production hosts. TL;DR: Does gluster/oVirt4.4 make use of FINOBT,SPARSE_INODES,REFLINK xfs features? btw. oVirt is great product and HCI looks really functional and usable (with 10GE network and SSDsof course). Libgfapi considerations

Are there currently any known issues with using libgfapi in the latest stable version of ovirt in hci deployments? I have recently enabled it and have noticed a significant (over 4x) increase in io performance on my vms. I’m concerned however since it does not seem to be an ovirt default setting. Is libgfapi considered safe and stable to use in ovirt 4.3 hci?

Hi All, I have 2 independent Hyperconverged Sites/Data Centers. Site A has a GlusterFS Replica 3 + Arbiter Volume that is Storage Domain data2 This Volume is Geo-Replicated to a Replica 3 + Arbiter Volume at Site B called data2_bdt I have simulated a DR event and now want to import the Ge0-Replicated volume data2_bdt as a Storage Domain on Site B. Once imported I need to import the VMs on this volume to run in Site B. The Geo-Replication now works perfectly (thanks Strahil) but I haven't been able to import the Storage Domain. Please can someone point me in the right direction or documentation on how this can be achieved. Kind Regards Shimme...

Grafana oVirt 4.4.4 Node install - Grafana Monitoring Portal not available

Having installed oVirt 4.4.4 HCI 3 node cluster, the Grafana 'Monitoring Portal' was not visible on the Default page. It appears that Grafana is installed but not configured. I have checked a 4.4.3 environment and it is installed and running, so is this a bug with 4.4.4.7-1.el8? Any help would be appreciated.

Hello - Deployed fresh ovirt node 4.4.6 and the only thing I did to the system was configure the NIC with nmtui During the gluster install the install errored out with gluster-deployment-1620832547044.log:failed: [n2] (item=5900/tcp) => {"ansible_loop_var": "item", "changed": false, "item": "5900/tcp", "msg": "ERROR: Exception caught: org.fedoraproject.FirewallD1.Exception: ALREADY_ENABLED: '5900:tcp' already in 'public' Permanent and Non-Permanent(immediate) operation"} The fix here was easy - I just deleted the port it was complaining about with firewall-cmd and restarted the installation and it was all fine During the hosted engine deployment when the VM is being deployed it dies here [ INFO ] TASK [ovirt.ovirt.hosted_engine_setup : Open a port on firewalld] [ ERROR ] fatal: [localhost]: FAILED! => {"changed": false, "msg": "ERROR: Exception caught: org.fedoraproject.FirewallD1.Exception: ALREADY_ENABLED: '6900:tcp' already in 'public' Non-permanent operation"} Now the issue here is that I do not have access to the engine VM as it is in a bit of a transient state since when it fails the current image that is open is discarded when the ansible playbook is kicked off again I cannot find any BZ on this and google is turning up nothing. I am getting this error message when I install it on CentOS 7.9 when running the hosted engine setup. Hi everyone, I found 3 servers (HV1, HV2, HV3) that contains VMs at another servers room. These servers are hosts based on KVM. I logged into oVirt Engine Web Administration. Data Centers tab show me only one entry Name: RCV Storage: Shared Status: Not Operational Compability Version: 3.4 Description: [Empty] Webbrowser oVirt Engine Web Administrator show me oVirt Engine Version: 3.4.0-1.el6 One VM on HV3 has stopped, Hosts tab show Non Responsive Status for every host (HV1-3); every VM in Virtual Machines tab show Unknown status. What do I'll do to change status in Data Center? How to start debug the reason? Hosted-engine fail and host reboot

I tried with a 1 baremetal host, 3 baremetals or virtual hosts and I still have the same problem for installing the hosted-engine. Hyperconverge installs well. I have tried with multiple version of ovirt ISO file 4.4.1 and 4.4.4 and 4.4.6. when I run hosted-engine --deploy or with the cockpit, it creates a temporary VM in the 192.168.222.x subnet and I am able to connect in ssh on this temporary ip. Adding a Ubuntu Host's NFS share to oVirt

Hello, Is it possible to use Ubuntu to share an NFS export with oVirt?I'm trying to setup a Backup Domain for my environment. I got to the point of actually adding the new Storage Domain. When I click OK, I see the storage domain appear momentarily before disappearing, at which point I get a message about oVirt not being able to obtain a lock. It appears I'm running into the issue described in this thread: https://lists.ovirt.org/archives/list/users@ovirt.org/thread/BNVXUH5B26FBFC… ... Although the actual export is ext4, not xfs. From what I'm reading on that thread and elsewhere, it sounds like this problem is a result of SELinux not being present, is that correct? Can't remove snapshot

Hi all, I patched one of my Windows VM's yesterday. I started by snapshotting the VM, then applied the Windows update. Now that the patch has been tested, I want to remove the snapshot. I get this message: Error while executing action: win-sql-2019: - Cannot remove Snapshot. The following attached disks are in ILLEGAL status: win-2019-tmpl_Disk1 - please remove them and try again. Cannot add new host to Ovirt

I have an Ovirt installation with a hosted engine and three hosts. Using Gluster as the storage for the VMs. Ovirt: 4.4.6.7 Hosts: CentOS Stream release 8 (updated to latest) So far so good. I am trying to add a new host to the cluster with the same OS and hardware as the others and I cannot get it to install, it gives me all kind of errors and it will not install. I reinstalled the OS and I am getting the same results. DNS is configured properly and working ok for all hosts. Creating Snapshots failed

Hello Community, since I upgrade our cluster to ovirt 4.4.6.8-1.el8 I'm not able anymore to create snapshots on certain VMs. For example I have two debian 10 VMs, from one I can make a snapshot, and from other one not. Both are up to date and uses the same qemu-guest-agent versions. I tried to create snapshots over API and on web gui, both gives the same result. In the attachment you found a snipped from the engine.log. Any help would be wonderful! Regards, Jonathan

I updated my three server HCI cluster from 4.4.5 to 4.4.6. All hosts updated successfully and rebooted and are active. I notice that only one host out of the three is actually running oVirt node 4.4.6 and the other two are running 4.4.5. If I check for upgrade in admin it shows no upgrades available. Why are two hosts still running 4.4.5 after being successfully upgraded/rebooted and how can I get them on 4.4.6 if no upgrades are being found?

CPU usage question

Hi everyone, I am slowly working the performance bottlenecks out of my rack, and ran into this puzzling scenario. Ovirt shows CPU usage at over 50%. Windows shows CPU usage between 5 and 15 % The backing store is TrueNAS NFS on a 10 GBit lan. I am seeing just under 1 GBit throughput on the storage network for this operation (create database). Am I reading this correctly that my system is bottlenecking on the CPU used to handle the Windows disk IO over TCP/IP ? Unable to migrate VMs

I have a three node oVirt 4.4.5 cluster running oVirt node hosts. Storage is mix of GlusterFS and NFS. Everything has been running smoothly, but the other day I noticed many VMs had invalid snapshots. I run a script to export OVA for VMs for backup purposes, exports seemed to have been fine but snapshots failed to delete at the end. I was able to manually delete the snapshots through oVirt admin GUI without any errors/warnings and the VMs have been running fine and can restart them without problems. I thought this problem may be due to snapshot bug which is supposedly fixed in oVirt 4.4.6. I decided to start upgrading cluster to 4.4.6 and am now having a problem with VMs not being able to migrate. When I migrate any VM (doesn't seem to matter which host to and from) the process starts but stops at 0-1%. Eventually after 15-30 minutes or more the tasks are all completed by the VM is not migrated. I am unable to migrate any VMs and as such I cannot place any host in maintenance mode. Ovirt 4.4.6.8-1 upload ova as template to multiple hosts

I have a single ovirt manager and 2 ovirt hosts, each has a local storage domain. I am using the upload_ova_as_template.py and my template upload works on a single host but not both. If I use the gui method, there is the option of "clone" and putting in a new name for the template. This seems to work most of the time, but it has failed a couple of times also. I would like to add the same "clone" and "name" option to the upload_ova_as_temple.py. What is the best way to do this since I need to have unique UUIDs for the template disks? This is a unique setup in the fact that I can't use shared storage and this should be doable as I was able to do it in the ovirt gui. Thanks Don

Hello, I need to understand which user removed a vm 2 months ago, but I can't recover such info into engine.log (that default rotate is 20). I gave a quick look to the dwh database: I'm able to find the removal date, but not the associated user. If it's the same problem that I ran into then it's the latest version of edk2-ovmf. I'm not sure why it was pushed into the repos without a fixed libvirt to go with it. Live ("any") disk migration between storages KILLS a virtual machine with Windows (UEFI) !!!

The weekend went horribly. I created a second storage domain in order to move all the virtual machines to a higher performance RAID array (From RAID6 to RAID10). My mistake was trying to move two Windows domain controllers from one storage domain to another. The problem is that when I "live" moved the virtual machine disk between storage domains, my Windows Server 2019 virtual machines worked fine until the next reboot. After a reboot, the machine just won't start and throws an error - Status: 0xc0000428 - The digital signature for this file couldn't be verified. Moving back to the "old" domain doesn't help. None of the procedures with VMs worked (Re-create boot area, turn on kernel flag - bcdedit.exe /set nointegritychecks on). I am ready to help and interested in developing Ovirt. I can also provide more information to developers if needed.

I also end up with the same problem today. How did rollback yum i see many yum updates in the yum history. Here is what the error says. The host CPU does not match the Cluster CPU Type and is running in a degraded mode. It is missing the following CPU flags: model_IvyBridge, spec_ctrl. Please update the host CPU microcode or change the Cluster CPU Type.

Adding a 4th compute host to a HCI environment

Hello, Is there documentation anywhere for adding a 4th compute-only host to an existing HCI cluster? I did the following earlier today: - Installed RHEL 8.4 onto the new (4th) host - Setup an NFS share on the host - Attached the NFS share to oVirt as a new storage domain - I then turned the NFS share into a "backup domain" - Once that was done, I installed ovirt-release44.rpm, followed by some ovirt packages: - yum install https://resources.ovirt.org/pub/yum-repo/ovirt-release44.rpm - yum install cockpit-ovirt-dashboard vdsm-gluster ovirt-host - I then logged into the oVirt Manager Web UI, navigated to Hosts, and clicked on New - I successfully added the new host to the cluster Once this was all done, load average on all 3 of my original HCI nodes started to go through the roof. I've seen servers' load average go through the roof before when NFS shares are down, so I suspect that something happened to the NFS share when I went to add the host as a compute node. In an effort to get things stabilized, I wound up yanking the new host out of oVirt, as well as the NFS share, at which point things did stabilize again. My goal here: - Setup the host as a compute-only host (don't participate in the gluster cluster) - Setup the NFS share for backup purposes Writing this email and reviewing my bash history, I think one of the places I went wrong was I installed vdsm-gluster. Guest CPU compatibility issues on upgraded host - RHEL 8

I have oVirt 4.4.6 running on my Engine VM. I also have oVirt 4.4.6 on one of my hosts. The other two hosts are still on oVirt 4.4.5. My issue seems slightly different than the issue(s) other people have described. I'm on RHEL 8 hosts. My Engine VM is running fine on the upgraded host, as is one of my Ubuntu guests. However, it seems like I'm not able to migrate *ANY* other guests over the new host. The oVirt UI just indicates that for whatever reason the upgraded host isn't available / compatible for a VM to be migrated to. I'm not sure how or why this 1 Ubuntu guest VM was able to get migrated, but it looks like its working just fine. I did try: yum downgrade edk2-ovmf Base on other people's comments. But I'm not sure how long to wait, or what else to try, to try to get my upgraded host operational again. Sent with ProtonMail Secure Email.

issue creating disk with rest api using json format

I am unable to create disk using JSON however the same query in XML works great. Ovirt 4.4.6.8 High Performance VM quirkiness

I created a high performance vm and everything is fine. I stop the virtual machine and make edits to it and again runs correctly. I shutdown the vm and click the edit tab to look at what I changed and it is now back to the defaults and my edits are gone. Is this now the intended result. I was using the same settings in 4.3 and never exhibited this behavior. What I have observed so for is that I disabled Headless, disabled cpu pinning, and changed numa config. When I shutdown the vm, they revert to default of Headless enabled, cpu pinning is set and the numa config changed. This is not what I expect to happen. Has anyone else noticed this behavior? Hi, This morning I have a problem that suddenly my Host (Using Centos 8 Stream, not oVirt Node) showing error with Cpu Compatibility. It says my CPU doesn’t have Haswell-noTSX and spec_ctrl flag. After downgrading the kernel back from 4.18.0 – 305 to 4.18.0 – 301.1 and rollback yum update, it working again. Do anybody having same issue ? I’m using Xeon E5-2695v4 with cluster compatibility Secure Intel Haswell. Using oVirt 4.4.6 on CentOS Stream host. Thanks before. Cluster stuck in maintenance - Hosts not upgrading as expected

I have a 3-node hyperconverged cluster with Gluster filesystem running on RHEL 8.3 hosts. It's been stable on oVirt 4.5. Today, I just upgraded the Engine to v4.6. [Screenshot from 2021-05-22 20-29-23.png] I then logged into the oVirt manager, navigated to Compute -> Clusters, and clicked on Upgrade. The Status of the cluster does have an exclamation mark that says "Upgrade Cluster Compatibility Level", but my understanding is, I shouldn't do that until all 3 of my hosts have been upgraded. Looking at active tasks, I see that the first host in my cluster is stuck in "Upgrading". It's now been like this for 3 hours, without any visible progress. If I try to launch a VM that is not configured for high availability, the VM fails to launch, and I get a message about the cluster being in "Maintenance Mode" and that none of the hosts satisfies current scheduling restraints. How do I.... a) Cancel / clear the upgrade and take the cluster out of "maintenance mode" b) Properly upgrade the cluster, since clicking the "Upgrade" button clearly didn't work? Problems provisioning 4.4.6 hosted engine

This is a new system is CentOS 8.3, with the oVirt-4.4 repo and all updates applied. When I try to install the hosted engine with my engine backup from 4.3.10, the installation fails with a too many open files error. My 8.3 hosts already had 1M system max files, which is more than any of my CentOS 7/oVirt 4.3 hosts have. I tried increasing it to 2M with no luck, so my suspicion is that the error is on the engine itself? I tried provisioning a new engine just to test, and I get SSH key errors instead of this one. Import to VMware

Hello, Ive exported an OVA of a server we had made on OVIRT and Im trying to import it to VMware. Its complaining that the ovf:format is incorrect. ovf:format="http://www.gnome.org/~markmc/qcow-image-format.html" That link doesnt resolve to anywhere because it appears its now http://people.gnome.org/~markmc/qcow-image-format.html But I dont know whats supposed to go there nor have I been able to locate anything to help solve this issue. All I really need is access to the files in the, what I assume is, vdmk file that comes along with the ovf file, which mine is called: 154b3d77-d340-4d24-a448-66265c5fb613 So if anything, is there a way to open this vm disk so I can gain access to the files? Error Adding host to cluster

When I attempt to install a new host to my cluster from the GUI I get this set of errors/warnings, and the install fails. - Host has no default route - The Host CPU does not match the Cluster CPU Tye and is running in a degraded mode. It is missing the following CPU flags: vmx, model_Cascadelake-Server-noTSX. The new host has a brand new bare centos 8 installation on it. It successfully installed from the internet. The *new host* hardware is 48x Intel(R) Xeon(R) CPU E5-2680 v3 @ 2.50GHz The *pre-existing host* is 64x Intel(R) Xeon(R) Silver 4216 CPU @ 2.10GHz If I am reading the ansible logs correctly, ansible is failing to find the *ovirt-hosted-engine-setup* package, which is confusing since I have a separate physical machine for the engine (which I am using to install from), and don't want a self hosted engine. Hi there, just a heads up that in 4.4.7 we’ll be removing vdsm’s hard dependency on VM-FEX hook. The functionality has been more or less obsoleted by SR-IOV and its usage is minimal these days. With the upgrade the vdsm-hook-vmfex-dev rpm will get automatically uninstalled. If you happen to use it and it works well for you then please "dnf install" it after the upgrade. There is no change in functionality and the hook is not going away, it’s just that in order to not make it mandatory from now on, it gets removed during "dnf upgrade”. Thanks, michal

How to create new users other than admin

Hello everyone, I am new to ovirt and would like to apologise if this has been asked before. When I created a cluster of ovirt 4.3, I was presented with the option of creating an admin user. However, we would like to assign different login credentials for our employees with different set of rules. I was able to view the users menu under the Administration > Users. Currently we only have an admin user with internal-authz. When clicking on the add button, I only see "internal-authz" and "*" under namespace. Clicking on Go button simply shows admin user again. I created a new role under the Administration > Configure > Roles, however, there is no option to add new user anywhere. Can you please point me to the right steps for adding new users? Thanks

Unable start self hosted engine after accidental shut down

Hi, Our self hosted engine has been accidentally shut down by a teammate and now I'm trying hard to get it back up without success. I've tried the --vm-start command but it says the VM is in WaitForLaunch status. Error Deployment New Hosted Engine on 4.4.1 node

I have a setup with 3 servers production environment with version 4.4.1 that works very well (gluster and hosted-engine) I prepared a lab with the same setup (with the same ISO) to test a update to (4.4.6) The deployment of the Hyperconverge works but when I want to do hosted-engine --deploy or in the cokpit, at some time the host displays this message and reboot and the engine is not installed. Gluster volumes not healing (perhaps after host maintenance?)

I discovered that the servers I purchased did not come with 10Gbps network cards, like I thought they did. So my storage network has been running on a 1Gbps connection for the past week, since I deployed the servers into the datacenter a little over a week ago. I purchased 10Gbps cards, and put one of my hosts into maintenance mode yesterday, prior to replacing the daughter card. It is now back online running fine on the 10Gbps card. All VMs seem to be working, even when I migrate them onto cha2, which is the host I did maintenance on yesterday morning. The other two hosts are still running on the 1Gbps connection, but I plan to do maintenance on them next week. The oVirt manager shows that all 3 hosts are up, and that all of my volumes - and all of my bricks - are up. However, every time I look at the storage, it appears that the self-heal info for 1 of the volumes is 10 minutes, and the self-heal info for another volume is 50+ minutes. This morning is the first time in the last couple of days that I've paid close attention to the numbers, but I don't see them going down. When I log into each of the hosts, I do see everything is connected in gluster. It is interesting to me, in this particular case, though that gluster on cha3 notices the hostname of 10.1.0.10 to be the IP address, and not the hostname (cha1). The host that I did the maintenance on is cha2. Now to make it perfect , leave it running and analyze the AVCs with semanage. In the end SELINUX will remain working and geo-rep should be running also. I've previously tried the rpm generated from https://github.com/gluster/glusterfs-selinux but it didn't help at that time. If possible, give it a try. Gluster Geo-Replication Fails

Hi All, I have to sites each with 2 x 3 Node clusters. oVirt 4.4.5 with GlusterFS 8.4. On Site A I have a Replica 3 + Arbiter volume that I want to geo-replicate to Site B. I've setup a Replica 3 + Arbiter volume on Site B. All password-less ssh requirements are in place and the Geo-Replication Session has been created successfully. I issue the 'Start' command successfully but the status switches between 'Initializing', 'Active' & 'Failed' within 20 seconds constantly. Can anyone point me in the direction to get this up and running as it is our proposed DR solution. Kind Regards Shimme

Ovirt Engine -- Connection Refused to all hosts

Hi All, I am not sure if my original post is being reviewed before posting but trying again in case it failed to send. I tried logging in this morning to oVrit and see that all of my hosts are unresponsive. I am seeing a connection refused error in the engine logs. I am able to SSH and ping the host from the engine. Migrating VMs with templates from 4.2.8 to new 4.4.6 instance

Hello, I am having hard time migrating vms based on templates from existing 4.2.8 instance to newly installed 4.4.6 HCI with different storage. When I export VMs and corresponding templates to export NFS storage, detach it from source DC and attach the export storage to a new oVirt environment, the import of templates is failing with error "Failed to import Template XXX to Data Center YYY, Cluster ZZZ". I cannot find anything more specific about the error in logs. Am I missing something? Exporting to OVA and importing back does work, but I want to make use of template thin provisioning.

Create Brick from Engine host view

When I try to create a single disk brick via host view "storage devices" on engine, I get the following error. Error while executing action Create Brick: Internal Engine Error Failed to create brick lalaf on host hej1.5ervers.lan of cluster Clu1. I want the brick to be single disk no raid, no cache. Is there a way to create it via CLI? Do I need to pull some logs?

Hello, I am having trouble configuring fencing on these two servers with iDrac7 module from freshly installed oVirt 4.4.6. I tried drac5, drac7 and ipmilan modules and neither passes the test. I used ipmilan with option "lanplus=1", as noted in previous threads about idrac usage with oVirt/RHEV, but with no success. Also, I am successfully using ipmilan fencing from older oVirt 4.2 on several SuperMicro server nodes. This is the error message in engine.log: 2021-05-14 09:28:41,185+02 ERROR [org.ovirt.engine.core.bll.pm.FenceProxyLocator] (default task-6) [12faf352-da4a-4b24-9ab9-af54559cecd1] Can not run fence action on host 'onode1', no suitable proxy host was found. I can successfully query the idrac module with ipmitool from command line on the node, using the same credentials.

[OLVM] Host non responsive after installation
