Hello, I get error, need help. How to list all snapshots?

Hello everyone! First, I would like to thank everyone involved in this wonderful project. I leave here my sincere thanks! Does anyone know if it is possible to list all snapshots automatically? It can be by ansible, python, shell... any way that helps to list them all without having to enter Domain by Domain. Thank you all!

snapshot solution: Existing snapshots that were taken after this one will be erased.

Hi Team, when I want to commit the older snapshots I'm getting warning stating " Existing snapshots that were taken after this one will be erased.". is there any way we can retain the latest snapshots as is in the chain? I knew cloning and template export options are there to secure that latest snapshot data but these are will consume additional space in storage and take time.

Restart oVirt-Engine

Host deploy failure: Configure OVN for oVirt

Good day, I am running into a problem during host deploy via the oVirt engine GUI since upgrading to ovirt-engine-4.5.5-1.el8. The "Configure OVN for oVirt" task seem to fail when trying to run the vdsm-tool ovn-config command. Host deploy used to work fine when the engine was on version 4.5.4. Unable to access ovirt Admin Screen from ovirt Host

I've reinstalled ovirt 4.4 on my server remotely via cockpit terminal. I'm able to access the ovirt admin screen remotely from the laptop that I used for the install. However, using the same URL I'm unable to gain access to the admin screen. Following the instruction in the documentation I've modified the file: /etc/ovirt-engine/engine.conf.d/99-custom-sso-setup.conf, to reflect the DNS name and I enter in the IP address. But I'm still unable to access the screen from the server console. What else needs to change in order to gain access from the server console? Thanks

I need to stop one of the hypervisors for maintenance but this system is the storage pool manager. For this reason I decided to manually activate SPM in one of the other nodes but this operation is not successful. Latest 4.5.5 centos node install username password not working.

I been trying to install 4.5.5 testing and used the node installer iso. I cant login what is the username and password I have tried what others have done in the forums with no luck admin@ovirt . root admin . Also can the engine be installed from the node via the cockpit still? How can I get logged in to do this? I have used 4.3 and didnt have any of these problems. It was really simple to do. Any suggestions? grazie

oVirt networks

Dear all, Ineed your help to understand how to configure the network of a new oVirt cluster. Mynew system will have a 4.3 engine thatruns in a virtual machine, andsome Dell R7525 AMD EPYC hypervisors, eachholding two 4-port PCI network cards. These servers will have node-ovirt image again in version 4.3. As for the network, there are two HPE Aruba 2540G, non-stackable, with 24 1Gbs ports and 2 10Gbs uplinks to the star center. This is a simplified scheme: My goal is to make the most of the server's 8 ethernet interfaces to have both reliability and maximum possible throughput. This cluster will have two virtual networks, one forovirt management and one for the traffic of individual virtual machines. With that said here's what my idea is. I would like to have two links aggregated by 4Gbs, one for ovrtmgt and the other for vmnet. With the ovirt web interface I can createan active-passive "Mode 1" bond, but this won'tallow me to go beyond 1Gbs. Alternatively I could create a "Mode 4" bond 802.3ad but unfortunately the switches are not stacked and therefore not even this solution applies. This is an example with active passive configuration: Can you tell me if ovirt can generate//nested bonds? Or do you have other solutions ? Thanks a lot ! boot from cdrom & error code 0005

Hi. I have created a new storage domain (data domain, storage type nfs) to use it to upload iso images. I have so uploaded a new iso and then attach the iso to a new vm. But when I try to boot the vm I obtain this error: booting from dvd/cd... boot failed: could not read from cdrom (code 0005) no bootable device The iso file has been uploaded with success in the data storage domain and so the vm lets my attach the iso to the vm in the boot settings. Can you help me? Thank you

VM Migration Failed

Running oVirt 4.4.5 VM cannot migrate between hosts. vdsm.log contains the following error: libvirt.libvirtError: operation failed: Failed to connect to remote libvirt URI qemu+tls://ovhost01.local/system: authentication failed: Failed to verify peer's certificate Certificates on hosts was renewed some time ago. How this issue can be fixed ? Thank you.

How to re-enroll (or renew) host certificates for a single-host hosted-engine deployment?

Hi, I've got a single-host hosted-engine deployment that I originally installed with 4.0 and have upgraded over the years to 4.3.10. I and some of my users have upgraded remote-viewer and now I get an error when I try to view the console of my VMs: (remote-viewer:8252): Spice-WARNING **: 11:30:41.806: ../subprojects/spice-common/common/ssl_verify.c:477:openssl_verify: Error in server certificate verification: CA signature digest algorithm too weak (num=68:depth0:/O=<My Org Name>/CN=<Host's Name>) I am 99.99% sure this is because the old certs use SHA1. I reran engine-setup on the engine and it asked me if I wanted to renew the PKI, and I answered yes. This replaced many[1] of the certificates in /etc/pki/ovirt-engine/certs on the engine, but it did not update the Host's certificate. All the documentation I've seen says that to refresh this certificate I need to put the host into maintenance mode and then re-enroll.. However I cannot do that, because this is a single-host system so I cannot put the host in local mode -- there is no place to migrate the VMs (let alone the Engine VM). So.... Is there a command-line way to re-enroll manually and update the host certs? Or some other way to get all the leftover certs renewed? 4.5.4 with Ceph only storage

Hey ... A long story short ... I have an existing Red Hat Virt / Gluster hyperconverged solution that I am moving away from. I have an existing Ceph cluster that I primarily use for OpenStack and a small requirement for S3 via RGW. I'm planning to build a new oVirt 4.5.4 cluster on RHEL9 using Ceph for all storage requirements. I've read many online articles on oVirt and Ceph, and they all seem to use the Ceph iSCSI gateway, which is now in maintenance, so I'm not real keen to commit to iSCSI. So my question is, IS there any reason I cannot use CephFS for both hosted-engine and as a data storage domain? I'm currently running Ceph Pacific FWIW. Cheers

i can't access console with noVNC or VNC client(console.vv)

i installed the ovirt 4.5 engine on centos stream 9 and add a ovirt node(ovirt node 4.5 iso) to this engine. i am going to run my vm on this node. i follow the instruction to create the data center, the cluster, the storage domain, upload the image. everything is fine. and after i create a vm with ubuntu image attach, i found that i can't visit the console. when i using the noVNC, it says "Something went wrong, connection is closed", when i visit vnc with virt-viewver, is says "Failed to complete handshake Error in the pull function". i try to change the console type to Bochs one and it appear the same. i change to QXL mode and the vm can't start any more. i check the log, it says "unsupported configuration: domain configuration does not support video model 'qxl'". so now i can't visit my vm by anyway. i deploy the engine follow the official instruction and keep mostly option default but why still have this issue. why the noVNC says "Something went wrong" instead of telling me what is actually wrong

Oracle Virtualization Manager 4.5 anyone?

Redhat's decision to shut down RHV caught Oracle pretty unprepared, I'd guess, who had just shut down their own vSphere clone in favor of a RHV clone a couple of years ago. Oracle is even less vocal about their "Oracle Virtualization" strategy, they don't even seem to have a proper naming convention or branding. But they have been pushing out OV releases without a publicly announced EOL almost a year behind Redhat for the last years. And after a 4.4 release in September 22, a few days ago on December 12th actually a release 4.5 was made public. I've operated oVirt 4.3 with significant quality issues for some years and failed to make oVirt 4.4 work with any degree of acceptable stability but Oracle's variant of 4.4 proved to be rather better than 4.3 on CentOS7 with no noticable bugs, especially in the Hyperconverged setup that I am using with GlusterFS. I assumed that this was because Oracle based their 4.4 in fact on RHV 4.4 and not oVirt, but since they're not telling, who knows? One issue with 4.4 was that Oracle is pushing their UE-Kernel and that created immediate issues e.g. with VDO missing modules for UEK and other stuff, but that was solved easily enough by using the RHEL kernel. With 4.5 Oracle obviously can't use RHV 4.5 as a base, because there is no such thing with RHV declared EOL and according to Oracle their 4.5 is based on oVirt 4.5.4, which made the quality of that release somewhat questionable, but perhaps they have spent the year that has passed since productively killing bugs... only to be caught by surprise again, I presume, by an oVirt release 4.5.5 on December 1st, that no one saw coming! Long story slightly shorter, I've been testing Oracle's 4.5 variant a bit and it's not without issues. But much worse, Oracle's variant of oVirt seems to be entirely without any community that I could find. Now oVirt has been a somewhat secret society for years, but compared to what's going on with Oracle this forum is teaming with life! So did I just not look around enough? Is there a secret lair where all those OV users are hiding? Anyhow, here is what I've tested so far and where I'd love to have some feedback: 1. Setting up a three node HCI cluster from scratch using OL8.9 and OV 4.5 Since I don't have extra physical hardware for a 3 node HCI I'm using VMware workstation 17.5 on a Workstation running Windows 2022, a test platform that has been working for all kinds of virtualization tests from VMware ESXi, via Xcp-ng and ovirt. Created three VMs with OL8.9 minimal and then installed OV 4.5. I used the UEK default kernels and then had an issue when Ansible is trying to create the (local) management engine: the VM simply could not reach the Oracle repo servers to install the packages inside the ME. Since that VM is entirely under the control of Ansible and no console access of any type is possible in that installation phase, I couldn't do diagnostics. But with 4.4 I used to have similar issues and there switching back to the Redhat kernel for the ME (and the hosts) resolved them. But with 4.5 it seems that UEK has become a baked-in dependency: the OV team doesn't even seem to do any testing with the Redhat kernel any more. Or not with the HCI setup, which has become deprecated somewhere in oVirt 4.4... Or not with the Cockpit wizard, which might be in a totally untested state, or.... Doing the same install on OL 8.9 with OV 4.4, however, did work just fine and I was even able to update to 4.5 afterwards, which was a nice surprise... ...that I could not repeat on my physical test farm using three Atoms. There switching to the UEK kernel on the hosts caused issues, hosts were becoming unresponsive, file systems inaccessible, even if they were perfectly fine at the Gluster CLI level and in the end the ME VM simply would not longer start. Switching back to the Redhat kernel resolved things there. In short, switching between the Redhat kernel and UEK, which should be 100% transparent to all things userland including hypervisors, doesn't work. But my attempts to go with a clean install of 4.5 on a Redhat kernel or UEK is also facing issues. So far the only thing that has worked was a single node HCI install using UEK and OV 4.5 and upgrading to OV 4.5 on a virtualized triple node OV 4.4 HCI cluster. Anyone else out there trying these things? I was mostly determined to move to Proxmox VE, but Oracle's OV 4.5 seemed to be handing a bit of a life-line to oVirt and the base architecture is just much more powerful (or less manual) than Proxmox, which doesn't have a management engine.

Changing disk QoS causes segfault with IO-Threads enabled (oVirt 4.3.0.4-1.el7)

We recently upgraded to 4.3.0 and have found that when changing disk QoS settings on VMs whilst IO-Threads is enabled causes them to segfault and the VM to reboot. We've been able to replicate this across several VMs. VMs with IO-Threads disabled/turned off do not segfault when changing the QoS. virt-v2v cannot authenticate with oVirt engine API with OAuth2

I've been reading through archives but not able to find what i need. Essentially what I'm trying to do is migrate a larger number of VMs from our OVM environment to a new OLVM setup. In an effort to reduce lots of replication and copying of the disk image (export, convert, copy over, import etc.) I found this article which shows a pretty slick way to do it in one shot https://blogs.oracle.com/scoter/post/how-to-migrate-oracle-vm-to-oracle-l... The main command behind it all is the virt-v2v that makes it possible. It looks something like this: virt-v2v -i libvirtxml vm-test1.xml -o rhv-upload -oc https://<OLVM-server>/ovirt-engine/api -os <my storage> -op /tmp/ovirt-admin-password -of raw -oo rhv-cluster=Default -oo rhv-cafile=/root/ca.pem The problem I'm having is I cannot authenticate with my new OLVM server at the ovirt-engine/api URL. Since user/password is depricated and you must use OAuth 2.0 with a token I'm stuck. I have OLVM 4.5.4-1.0.27.el8 and from what I've read in oVirt 4.5 (not sure what version it started) they use keycloak oAuth 2.0 and the older ovirt-aaa-jdbc-tool is now deprecated. Best I can tell the -oc option is strictly the URL and if you want a username in there it's in the form of https://<name>@<server>. So even if I wrote a script and used curl to authenticate and get a token I still can't find a way to make virt-v2v use it. So I'm stuck how do I get virt-v2v working? Is there a way to re-enable the deprecated user/pass method of accessing the ovirt-engine/api ? or as a last resort a way to get virt-v2v supporting the token? Thanks for any insight Malcolm

Ovirt 4.5 HA over NFS fails when a single host goes down

Greetings, we have recently installed ovirt as a hosted-engine with high availability on six nodes over NFS storage (no Gluster), with power management through an on-board IPMI device, and the setup was successful. All the nodes (from Supermicro) are identical in every aspect, so no hardware differences exist and no modifications to the servers' hardware were performed. The hosted-engine was deployed on a second host, where two of the six hosts only were required to host the HE VM. The network interface on each node is bonded between two physical fiber optics NICs in LACP mode with a VLAN on top, serving as the sole networking interface for the server/node, no separate VM or storage networks were needed, as the host OS, hosted-engine vm, and storage are required to be on the same network and VLAN. We started by testing the high-availability of the hosted-engine VM (as it was deployed on two of the six nodes) by rebooting or powering off one of the hosts, and the VM would migrate successfully to the second HE node. The main goal of our experiments is to test the robustness of the setup, as it is required for the cluster to remain functional even when up to two hosts are brought down (whether due to a network or power issue), however, when rebooting or powering off one of the hosts, the HE VM goes down and takes the entire cluster with it, where we can't even access the web portal. Once the host is rebooted, the HE VM and the cluster becomes functional again. Sometimes the HE VM stays down for a set amount of time (5 to 6 minutes) and then goes back up, and sometimes it goes down until the problematic host is back up. This behavior happens to other VMs as well not the the HE. We suspected an issue with the NFS storage, however, during ovirt operation it is being mounted properly over /rhev/data-center/mnt/<nfs:directory>, while the expected behavior is for the cluster to stay operational and any other VMs to be migrated to other hosts. During one of the tests, we tried to mount the NFS storage on a different directory and there was no problem, we were even able to perform commands such as ls without any issues, as well as writing a text file at the directory's root, and be able to modify it normally. We suspected a couple of things the first being that the HE is unable to fence the problematic host (the one we took down), however, power management is setup properly. The other thing we suspected is the cluster hosts (after taking down one of them) are unable to acquire storage lease, which is weird since the host in question is down and non-operational, hence no locks should be in place. The reason behind this suspicion is the following two errors that we receive frequently when one host or more goes down from the engine\ovirt-engine\engine.log file: 1- "EVENT_ID: VM_DOWN_ERROR(119), VM HostedEngine is down with error. Exit message: resource busy: Failed to acquire lock: Lease is held by another host." 2- "[<id>] Command 'GetVmLeaseInfoVDSCommand( VmLeaseVDSParameters:{expectedEngineErrors='[NoSuchVmLeaseOnDomain]', storagePoolId='<pool-id>', ignoreFailoverLimit='false', leaseId='<lease-id>', storageDomainId='<domain-id>'})' execution failed: IRSGenericException: IRSErrorException: No such lease: 'lease=<lease-id>'" This is a third warning from the /var/log/vdsm/vdsm.log file 1- "WARN (check/loop) [storage.check] Checker '/rhev/data-center/mnt/<nfs-domain:/directory>/<id>/dom_md/metadata' is blocked for 310.00 seconds (check:265)" All the tests are done without setting nodes into maintenance mode as we are simulating an emergency situation. No HE configuration were modified via the config-engine command, the default values are used. Is this a normal behavior? Are we missing something? Do we need to tweak a certain configuration using the config-engine command to get a better behavior (e.g., shorter down period)? Best regards

Advice on upgrading oVirt 4.2 CentOS 7.x cluster to oVirt 4.5 Rocky Linux 8.9

I have multiple aging clusters that I now need to upgrade both the host OS and the oVirt release. I have seen the notes about upgrading 4.2 to 4.3 and then being able to upgrade to 4.5, but what's not so clear is how to upgrade the host nodes' OS versions. After thinking about it, I wonder if this method is sane. Any advice or guidance is greatly appreciated. 1) spin up a new cluster running oVirt 4.5.x on the latest Rocky Linux release. 2) shutdown VMs on the original cluster 3) detach the domain storage 4) snapshot the domain storage (for rollback) 5) import the domain on the new cluster. 6) reload the OS on the original cluster to the new OS release (no local storage) 7) add those hosts to the new cluster

Snapshots and mess with Storage

Locked VHDD - Help To Unlock/Delete

Hi All, I've gone and made a (bad) mistake. When creating a new VM I accidentally selected the wrong Storage Domain for the VM's VHDD; a Storage Domain with less space available than the size of the new (thick provisioned) VHDD. So now I want to delete that VHDD (and possibly the accompanying VM) and start over. However, the VHDD is "Locked" and I can't figure out a way to delete it (or Unlock it, or delete the VM, or Unattach the VHDD, etc, etc, etc). I can't find anything online so hopefully someone here can help me out. For the record I have full Admin access to *all* physical and virtual resources and I don't mind doing things via CLI (which I suspect is what's going to be required). I'm also familia with SQL (MariaDB, MS-SQL) but not Postgres, so if this is going to required manipulating the oVirt DB then so-be-it, I can do that as well. Thanks in advance Cheers Dulux-Oz

Using External CA

Hello all- I am looking for a methodology to force oVirt to use certs/keys managed and deployed externally. These are automated by our various automation systems and are configured to match our security policies. Rogue and/or non-transparent and/or standalone CAs in our org do not comply with our security policy. If I pre-deploy certificates and keys, does oVirt engine still need to be a CA? Similarly, our encryption policy requires use of RSA 4096 or ED25519 for SSH. This, as I understand it, is also not compatible with the RSA 2048 generated/used by the engine's internal CA. Is SSHing to this new host using this key necessary, or can I externally enroll a new host into a cluster or - if not - use different SSH key via the engine (likely derived from the above/below-mentioned certs, which may be RSA 4096)? Essentially, could I: 1. Pre-provision certificates and keys in /etc/pki/ovirt-*/ with the appropriate filenames<https://www.ovirt.org/develop/release-management/features/infra/pki.html#...> 2. Run engine-setup for the first time (using an answers file)? Will engine-setup balk at the existence of those files, silently overwrite them, or use them? Thanks in advance. I noticed when doing the install of the engine it cant be done in the cockpit i dont see the tab in the frame so I did the install command line no problem with that. During the install of the engine it disconnects and in the messages it just continues with node-ansible-async_wrapper.py [16052] still running 55070. Any idea what this means ? How can I get this to install. I have done 4.3 installs in past with no problems.

importing local storage domain problem

Hello, I had a lab environment in 4.4.10, composed of only one host and local storage DC and with an external engine. I had 3 disks on this system, with OS in the first one and local storage domains in the second and third one. I detached the storage domains (I forgot to remove them afterwards) from the original env Afterwards I created a completely new engine on 4.5 (not using any backup) and then I reutilized the host installing the OS in the first disk overwriting the previous env. I have mounted the filesystems for the storage domains on the second and third disk as before, but I see that if I try to execute "import storage domain", the local type is not there. And if I select "new storage domain" I receive the error operation canceled Error while executing action New Local Storage Domain: Error in creating a Storage Domain. The selected storage path is not empty (probably contains another Storage Domain). Either remove the existing Storage Domain from this path, or change the Storage path). Is there any file I can delete from the directory tree that reproduces the "removal" action I forgot? Or any workarounds? Thanks in advance, Gianluca

NMState verification error when setting up a bonding interface

Hello fellow oVirt Users. I am trying to setup a bond interface on my host, but for whatever reason I am unable to do so trough the host network configuration. Actually I do know the issue, and it’s a bit bizarre as I don’t know what causes it. If you take a look at the following snippet of my supervdsm.log file, you will see that the NMstate verification fails due to a difference between the current config and the desired config. The thing is I have not made any of the additional configuration options. I literally installed the OS, installed the oVirt host and tried to setup a network bond. Has anyone experienced this? Unable to upload image to disk - due to a network error

Hi. Is there a way to send an ISO to self hosted server? Because I 've been searching for help and a lot of people complaining about it. 1 - What is the way to send ISOs to oVirt? Are there a command line tool to send ISOs to my server? "The ISO Uploader tool has been deprecated. Red Hat recommends uploading ISO images to the data domain with the Administration Portal or with the REST API. See Section 11.8.1, “Uploading Images to a Data Storage Domain” for details." https://access.redhat.com/documentation/en-us/red_hat_virtualization/4.3/... 2 - ISO sending from portal worked for a smaller image. It could be done for OL 7.9 with 4 GB. But I am trying to upload OL 8.9 ISO with 13.5 GB and it is not finishing. It is not resuming. It started to upload. I have a configured certificate installed and ok tested connection. I got this error: "Unable to upload image to disk a72b0da4-1bbb-453c-b846-701eef9761f6 due to a network error. Ensure ovirt-engine's CA certificate is registered as a trusted CA in the browser. The certificate can be fetched from" It started but not finished: "Sent 1732 of 12812 MB" This message is related to network not to certificate because it is installed otherwise it cannot even started to upload. Are there a user-friendly way to upload a ISO to a server using any command line tool? Latter versions I can send a ISO to a storage pool and it appears in server. Now I read it is impossible. Does it impossible by now? My is 4.4.10.7-1.0.25.el8. I am using NFS share and self hosted engine.

IO per VM monitoring

hi, i have prometheus based ovirt hosts monitoring (node_exporter, smartcl_exporter, ipmi_exporter) https://prometheus-community.github.io/ansible/branch/main/ and alerts from https://samber.github.io/awesome-prometheus-alerts/ after i started this monitoring i found that one VM is overloading local storage (so i must check IO limiting documentation as a homework :) ) but my question is how do you monitor IO traffic per VM? (IOPS, read/write traffic,..) some qemu/libvirt exporter? some custom text file + node_exporter? thanks for tips Marek

Ovirt 4.4.10 - Admin account locked after password change

Hello All Recently, I reset the password for the admin account through ovirt-aaa-jdbc-tool. The password changed properly but the admin account will be locked automatically after few hours later. From the engine log, the admin@internal seems login periodically from ovirt engine itself. If I fallback the password with the original one, all working fine. Do anyone has the solution? Internal pentest result : Ovirt-engine authentication bypass

Hello ovirt comunity. We had an internal pentest here and one finding is *Ovirt-engine authentication bypass.* Ovirt-engine, as deployed on ovirtm.XXX.XXX.cz, contains an authentication bypass. It is possible to directly call the CreateUserSessionCommand using runAction exposed by /ovirt- engine/webadmin/GenericApiGWTService. *This action explicitly enables everyone to call it:* ```/ @Override protected boolean isUserAuthorizedToRunAction() { return true; } /``` The behavior of this call differs based on the ENGINE_SSO_ENABLE_EXTERNAL_SSO configuration option: ``` /boolean externalSsoEnabled = EngineLocalConfig.getInstance().getBoolean("ENGINE_SSO_ENABLE_EXTERNAL_SSO"); DbUser dbUser = externalSsoEnabled ? dbUserDao.getByUsernameAndDomain(params.getPrincipalName(), authzName) : dbUserDao.getByExternalId(authzName, params.getPrincipalId());/ ``` If this option is enabled, usernames are used to locate users. If it's disabled, the externalId (which seems to be a randomly generated GUID) is used to locate users. If the specified user exists, a session is returned for the user. However, the user doesn't get assigned any group membership or rights, therefore the session creation fails because of the missing Login right. hosted-engine --deploy fails, apparently due to not finding storage pool

Hi, I'm trying to deploy a self hosted engine, and it gets to 'Wait for the host to be up' and then fails about 20mins later. Checking the hosted engine setup log, the failure seems to be to do with a storage pool not being found (see error below). Is this error referring to the storage pool that the hosted engine will use? The setup script does not ask me what kind of storage I want to use, or the path for it, does it auto detect this? The host I am running the engine setup on is part of a gluster cluster, which I have provisioned for this purpose. Do I need to edit a file somewhere to specify this, or is there something else I need to do (permissions etc)? The hosted engine VM itself comes up fine, and I can get a console on it via virsh. Unable to upload images

Hello friends! I can't upload images; when I click on test connection, I encounter the certificate issue. I used to be able to upload images without any problem, but this issue started when I updated the certificates of the Hosts and reinstalled one of the Hosts so it could also deploy the engine. I am sure that the certificate is registered in the browser. Could you help me? Enable hpet on specific vm

Hello friends, Please. Does anyone know how to use hooks to activate hpet in a VM? I have tried using qemu_cmdline with this configuration ["-rtc", "hpet,timer-states=3"] and with this other ["-rtc", "hpet= on"] but it gives me this error: "VM w2022 is down with error. Exit message: internal error: process exited while connecting to monitor: qemu-kvm: -rtc hpet=on: Invalid parameter 'hpet'." And VM not starup. Problem with ovirt-websocket-proxy updated certified.

Hello all. In my company we have a oVit 4.5.4 that was worrying fine until today when the Apache certified expereid. Looking for how I can updated ti, followed here: https://lists.ovirt.org/archives/list/users@ovirt.org/thread/ZI5WNU6OB6FZ... I could access my engine. A secunde problem apeready when me and my colleagues tried to access any VM through noVNC On the web tab show us this message: "Something went wrong, connection is closed" When I went on the engine discovery that Websocket-proxy certified was expired too. Nested Virtualization in AMD Ryzen

Hi all I am running OLVM 4.5, this is a test setup which was running in my old workstation with Intel CPU and is nested virtualization (with VMWare Workstation), the host was running Windows 7 x64, I moved to AMD Ryzen 7950X3D a couple of days ago which runs Windows 11 x64 with 128GB memory then moved OLVM VM's from the old workstation to this new workstation. The problem I face now is the KVM hosts shows this error *Host kvm1 moved to Non-Operational state as host CPU type is not supported in this cluster compatibility version or is not supported at all* I modified /etc/modprobe.d/kvm.conf and changed options kvm_amd nested=0 to options kvm_amd nested=1 reboot the kvm host but still getting same error, I verified the modification and seems good [root@kvm1 ~]# cat /sys/module/kvm_amd/parameters/nested 1 In Windows 11 I have hyper-v off and Memory Integrity is also off. Am I missing any additional steps? Thanks

Major screwup and now I can't bring anything up

I have a small home oVirt 4.5 deployment that was struggling a bit and I think I've only made things worse. I was seeing some SSL errors in various places but couldn't find any evidence of an expired cert though maybe I overlooked something. At present, it looks like the most immediate problem is that the engine.log is showing SyncNetworkProviderCommand fails saying EngineException: (Failed with error Unsupported or unrecognized SSL message and code 5050). For now, I'm only concerning myself to one Host that had been running VMs until I tried restarting everything from a power off. I take it that the sync failure prevents this Host from becoming active. I had successfully been using this setup for many years. I do have my own web cert on the engine signed by my CA. While I was getting this same "code 5050" error before with things like ovirt-imageio (what prompted my initial digging), now I'm afraid I've only made things more complex. See, I was running FreeIPA on a pair of VMs. In the past, this pair of VMs would auto-start once the oVirt Engine and Hosts were going and I had no issue. But now I wonder to what extent OSCP being unreachable might affect the SSL errors. What's the best/easiest/safest way out of this mess? Should I just wipe ovirt-engine of all the non-rpm provided files in /etc/pki/ovirt-engine/ and redo the engine-setup? I'm afraid of making things worse before I begin attempting that.

I think I may have just messed up my cluster. I'm running an older 4.4.2.6 cluster on CentOS-8 with 4 nodes and a self-hosted engine. I wanted to assemble the spare drives on 3 of the 4 nodes into a new gluster volume for extra VM storage. Unfortunately, I did not look closely enough at one of the nodes before running sfdisk+parted+pvcreate, and now it looks like I may have broken my onn storage. pvs shows missing uuids: # pvs WARNING: Couldn't find device with uuid RgTaWg-fR1T-J3Nv-uh03-ZTi5-jz9X-cjl1lo . I expected it would have been on all 4? * lsblk and /etc/fstab don't show any reference to onn * What is the ONN volume group used for, and how bad is it if it's now missing? I note that my VMs all continue to run and I've been able to migrate them off of this affected node with no apparent problems. * Is it possible that this onn volume group was already broken before I messed with the nvme3n1 disk? When ovirt was originally installed several years ago, I went through the install process multiple times and might not have cleaned up properly each time. --Mike

Shared and local storage, together

HI, We running some VMs from local storage. These are VMs for managing and monitoring tools such as Dell Storage Manager. So we don't want them to be stored in the shared storages they are managing and monitoring.... If something goes wrong on either the storage or the ISCSI network we want those VM to be up and running. Any way to enable both shared storages and some local storage in a cluster ? For the shake of using a host most efficiently and not for only a couple of VMs ?.
