adding new paths to iscsi data storage domains

Hi, I have been reading the devel list for months now, and would like to ask a question. In version 3.4.5, adding new paths to an existing iSCSI data storage domain does not work from the manager. I have been able to add the paths with command line "iscsiadm -m discovery -t st" and "iscsiadm -m node -L all". I'd like to clarify a bit something that seems to happen to everyone, how to add new openids to an existing account (google, fedora, ...). To do that you must be already logged in, then on the upper right side, cli= ck your name and hit the settings link. Then on the left side, hit the 'Identities' section, and there hit the 'Link another identity' button, that will send you to the login page and there you can login with the new openid, after that you will have a new identity and = =66rom now on logging with that openid will login with your user. If you don't do that step before using the new openid, gerrit will create a= new account from that new openid, and you'll end up with two accounts, that mig= ht make that when selecting your user for review, the combobox to show duplica= ted entries and fail to add any of them. If that is already happening to you (if you have duplicated identities) ple= ase open a ticket on trac[1] with the subject 'Duplicated gerrit identity' with= the emails, names or anything we can use to find all your identities and we'll = fix it (it has to be done from the database directly). This made the test "testGet" in "BackendHostNicLabelResourceTest" fail in some cases. Since JUnit test order is not deterministic some tests would wrongly use cached UriBuilders from previous tests and thus fail with the exception below. We've introduced patch 330d7aee596ad6ad8f6854eb73aeb75a3f67cd9e that reverted the original patch till a suitable solution will be found so if you encounter this failure you are encouraged to fetch it. Changed state to Down: Failed to open file (oVirt 3.5 + Gluster)

Hi: I removed a brick from a gluster volume via oVirt. The files were moved to another brick before commiting the brick removal. After that, some VMs are not starting. According to the logs, the disk image is not found: Changed state to Down: Failed to open file '/rhev/data-center/00000002-0002-0002-0002-000000000183/b55d0462-0dec-41a3-b0fd-6225fc5cf248/images/393a14c3-99df-4ffd-8ded-0705a22 d3304/dc9d4128-3172-4259-9923-54db19347fd2': No such file or directory (code=1) But the file is present on the gluster storage, which is mounted in /rhev/data-center/mnt/glusterSD/. What is this /rhev/data-center/00000002-0002-0002-0002-000000000183 directory for? And why is ovirt/libvirt trying to find the image on another location instead of the gluster mount? Thanks

Hi, during my sampling overhaul effort I faced various times a mismatch between what the libvirt-python API offers for bulk stats and what VDSM needs. The return value of bulk stats is a something like [(dom1, {dict_of_bulk_stats1}), {dom2, {dict_of_bulk_stats2}), ...] While VDSM almost all the times really wants to use { dom_uuid_1: dict_of_bulk_stats_1, dom_uuid_2: dict_of_bulk_stats_2 } translation is trivial to be coded, but bulk stats retrieval is quite always in the hot path. Moreover, this is just wasteful. But in general, there will always be a not-perfect match from libvirt-python and VDSM needs. This is expected: libvirt-python needs to be more generic. So, I coded a Proof of Concept extension module which *complements* and not *replaces* the libvirt-python API. https://github.com/mojaves/libvirt-python-ovirt It monkeys-patch some APIs and replace them with VDSM-crafted ones. If we have enough of monkey patching, it is even easier to just add new APIs instead of replacing them. It was a nice and fun hack, but now, the question is: is that a concept worth developing further? Do we want to use and depend on this module? I believe that with such a buffer we can gain some agility with respect to libvirt plans and needs, and the maintainership cost _seems_ fairly low. Issues with the VM display type value(s)

Hi, This is about the changes introduced by patch http://gerrit.ovirt.org/#/c/35281 (restapi: adjust api to new graphics representation). There are a couple of issues with the VM's display type value: (1) the "display -> type" value of the VM in the REST API seem to map to different properties based on the VM status. see http://i.imgur.com/Mn1RITW.png: When the VM is Up, the "display -> type" value in the REST API matches the 'Display' value in the GUI. But when the VM is Down, the "display -> type" value in the REST API matches the 'Graphics Protocol' value in the GUI and does not necessarily match the 'Display' value (e.g. in case we invoked 'Run Once' on the VM with a different Console value). Is there a reason for the values in the REST API to not match the ones in the GUI? it's a bit confusing. Maybe need to have two properties in the REST API to match the two displayed values in the GUI: 'Display' (which, IIUC, is the 'run- time' value) and 'Graphics Protocol' (which, IIUC, is the 'configured'/persisted value)? I understand that there may be backward-compatibility issues with naming/terminology, but perhaps we can come up with a solution that will not break the backward compatibility? (2) in patch http://gerrit.ovirt.org/#/c/35281, it seems that the REST API is calling a query *per VM* in order to re-populate the display-related values. This will potentially overload the engine, especially if we are planning to move the GUI to work over the REST API and request VMs every 5 seconds (by default) per client, as we are doing today. Are there any plans to optimize this behavior (e.g. populate the correct display-related values on the db-side, rather than re- populating them on the REST-API side using a per-VM query)?
