Unable to install oVirt on RHEL7.5

snapshot solution: Existing snapshots that were taken after this one will be erased.

Hi Team, when I want to commit the older snapshots I'm getting warning stating " Existing snapshots that were taken after this one will be erased.". is there any way we can retain the latest snapshots as is in the chain? I knew cloning and template export options are there to secure that latest snapshot data but these are will consume additional space in storage and take time.

Restart oVirt-Engine

SPM and Task error ...

Hi all, my ovirt cluster has got 3 Hypervisors runnig Centos 7.5.1804 vdsm is 4.20.39.1-1.el7, ovirt engine is 4.2.4.5-1.el7, the storage systems are HP MSA P2000 and 2050 (fibre channel). I need to stop one of the hypervisors for maintenance but this system is the storage pool manager. For this reason I decided to manually activate SPM in one of the other nodes but this operation is not successful. How to re-enroll (or renew) host certificates for a single-host hosted-engine deployment?

Hi, I've got a single-host hosted-engine deployment that I originally installed with 4.0 and have upgraded over the years to 4.3.10. I and some of my users have upgraded remote-viewer and now I get an error when I try to view the console of my VMs: (remote-viewer:8252): Spice-WARNING **: 11:30:41.806: ../subprojects/spice-common/common/ssl_verify.c:477:openssl_verify: Error in server certificate verification: CA signature digest algorithm too weak (num=68:depth0:/O=<My Org Name>/CN=<Host's Name>) I am 99.99% sure this is because the old certs use SHA1. I reran engine-setup on the engine and it asked me if I wanted to renew the PKI, and I answered yes. This replaced many[1] of the certificates in /etc/pki/ovirt-engine/certs on the engine, but it did not update the Host's certificate. All the documentation I've seen says that to refresh this certificate I need to put the host into maintenance mode and then re-enroll.. However I cannot do that, because this is a single-host system so I cannot put the host in local mode -- there is no place to migrate the VMs (let alone the Engine VM). So.... Is there a command-line way to re-enroll manually and update the host certs? Or some other way to get all the leftover certs renewed? Changing disk QoS causes segfault with IO-Threads enabled (oVirt 4.3.0.4-1.el7)

We recently upgraded to 4.3.0 and have found that when changing disk QoS settings on VMs whilst IO-Threads is enabled causes them to segfault and the VM to reboot. We've been able to replicate this across several VMs. VMs with IO-Threads disabled/turned off do not segfault when changing the QoS. oVirt host deploy: disable multipath

https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=1472356 There are 2 drives in my install that oVirt is claiming as multipath. I have tried blacklisting at /etc/multipath/ but that hasn't worked. Any better solutions? I need these 2 drives to be non-multipathed.

Out-of-sync networks can only be detached

Hi, I have a 3-node oVirt cluster. I have configured 2 logical networks: ovirtmgmt and public. Public logical network is attached in only 2 nodes and failing to attach on the 3rd node with the below error Invalid operation, out-of-sync network 'public' can only be detached. Network Address Change

Hi All: I just has a case, I need to change the oVirt host and engine IP address due to data center decommission I checked in the hosted-engine host there are some files I could change ; in ovirt-hosted-engine/hosted-engine.conf ca_subject="O=simple.com, CN=1.2.3.4" gateway=1.2.3.254 and of course I need to change the ovirtmgmt interface IP too, I think just change the above line could do the tick, but where could I change the other host IP in the cluster ? I think I have to be lost all the host as once changed the hosted-engine host IP as it is in diff. sub net. Does there any command line tools could do that or someone has such experience could share? Hello, We are about to change our backup provider, and I find it is a great chance to choose a full supported ovirt backup solution. I currently use this python script vm-backup-scheduler (https://github.com/wefixit-AT/oVirtBackup) but it is not the workflow officially suggested by the community (https://www.ovirt.org/develop/release-management/features/storage/backup-re…) I've been looking for a long time an ISV who supports such an API, but the only one I found is this one : Acronis Backup Advanced suggested here https://access.redhat.com/ecosystem/search/#/ecosystem/Red%20Hat%20Enterpri… I ran the trial version, but it doesn't seem to do better than the vm-backup-scheduler script, and it doesn't seem to use the backup API (attach a clone as a disk to an existing vm). Can you suggest me some other ISV solutions, if they ever exist... or share me your backup experience?

Hello everyone, I have a replica 2 + arbiter installation and this morning the Hosted Engine gave the following error on the UI and resumed on a different node (node3) than the one it was originally running(node1). (The original node has more memory than the one it ended up, but it had a better memory usage percentage at the time). Also, the only way I discovered the migration had happened and there was an Error in Events, was because I logged in the web interface of ovirt for a routine inspection. USB3 redirection

Hi, I'm trying to assign a USB3 controller to a CentOS 7.4 VM in oVirt 4.1 with USB redirection enabled. I've created the following file in /etc/ovirt-engine/osinfo.conf.d: 01-usb.properties with content os.other.devices.usb.controller.value = nec-xhci and have restarted ovirt-engine. If I disable USB-support in the web interface for the VM, the xhci controller is added to the VM (I can see it in the qemu-kvm commandline), but usb redirection is not available. If I enable USB-support in the UI, no xhci controller is added (only 4 uhci controllers). Is there a way to make the controllers for usb redirection xhci controllers? Hello, how do we manage routing between different OVN networks in oVirt? And between OVN networks and physical ones? Based on architecture read here: http://openvswitch.org/support/dist-docs/ovn-architecture.7.html I see terms for logical routers and gateway routers respectively but how to apply to oVirt configuration? Do I have to choose between setting up a specialized VM or a physical one: is it applicable/advisable to put on oVirt host itself the gateway functionality? Hi ovirt gurus, This is an interesting issue, one I never expected to have. When I push high volumes of writes to my NAS, I will cause VM's to go into a paused state. I'm looking at this from a number of angles, including upgrades on the NAS appliance. I can reproduce this problem at will running a centos 7.9 VM on Ovirt 4.5. *Questions:* 1. Is my analysis of the failure (below) reasonable/correct? 2. What am I looking for to validate this? 3. Is there a configuration that I can set to make it a little more robust while I acquire the hardware to improve the NAS? *Reproduction:* Standard test of file write speed: [root@cen-79-pgsql-01 ~]# dd if=/dev/zero of=./test bs=512k count=4096 oflag=direct 4096+0 records in 4096+0 records out 2147483648 bytes (2.1 GB) copied, 1.68431 s, 1.3 GB/s Give it more data [root@cen-79-pgsql-01 ~]# dd if=/dev/zero of=./test bs=512k count=12228 oflag=direct 12228+0 records in 12228+0 records out 6410993664 bytes (6.4 GB) copied, 7.22078 s, 888 MB/s The odds are about 50/50 that 6 GB will kill the VM, but 100% when I hit 8 GB. *Analysis:* What I think appears to be happening is that the intent cache on the NAS is on an SSD, and my VM's are pushing data about three times as fast as the SSD can handle. When the SSD gets queued up beyond a certain point, the NAS (which places reliability over speed) says "Whoah Nellie!", and the VM chokes. *David Johnson*

The thing is - I've just freshly installed this host and it seems strange that I need to reinstall it. Hello everybody! I'm trying to automate a copy of a VM from one Datacenter to another using an Ansible.playbook. I'm able to: - Create a snapshot of the source VM - create a clone from the snapshot - remove the snapshot - attach an Export Domain - export the clone to the Export Domain - remove the clone - detach the Export domain from the source Datacenter and attach to the destination. Unfortunately I cannot find a module to: - import the VM from the Export Domain - delete the VM image from the Export Domain. Any hint on how to do that? Thanks in advance. Cheers. Snapshot and disk size allocation

I would like to know how disk size and snapshot allocation works, because every time I create a new snapshot, it increases 1 GB in the VM's disk size, and when I remove the snap, that space is not returned to Domain Storage. Hi, In the second engine dep run in Hyperconverged deployment I get red "Ooops!" in cockpit. I think it fails on some networking setup. The first oVirt Node says "Hosted Engine is up!" but the other nodes is not added to HostedEngine yet. There is no network connectivity to the Engine outside node1, I can ssh to engine from node1 on the right IP-address. Please tell what logs I should pull.

Template for Ubuntu 18.04 Server Issues

I have built a system as a template on oVirt. Specifically, Ubuntu 18.04 server. I am noticing an issue when creating new vms from that template. I used the check box for "seal template" when creating the template. When I create a new Ubuntu VM I am getting duplicate IP addresses for all the machines created from the template. It seems like the checkbox doesn't fully function as intended. I would need to do further manual steps to clear up this issue. Has anyone else noticed this behavior? Is this expected or have I missed something? Thanks for your input!

The process went well, but when trying to log into the restored authentication system I get the following message which won't allow me to log in: The provided authorization grant for the auth code has expired. Hello, I updated all my 3 CentOS 4.4.5 hosts to 4.4.6. Or at least upgrading them from the GUI I see now they are on CentOS 8.4 and: [root@ov200 ~]# rpm -qa| grep 4.4.6 ovirt-release44-4.4.6.3-1.el8.noarch ovirt-host-4.4.6-1.el8.x86_64 ovirt-host-dependencies-4.4.6-1.el8.x86_64 [root@ov200 ~]# How to see from the webadmin GUI or from the Host Console that they are indeed 4.4.6? If I try to set cluster compatibility version to 4.6 I get: Error while executing action: Cannot change Cluster Compatibility Version to higher version when there are active Hosts with lower version. -Please move Host ov300, ov301, ov200 with lower version to maintenance first. I don't remember the need of giving downtime to get new cluster version... Or what are further requirements (and benefits....) to upgrade to 4.6? Thanks, Gianluca

Removing Direct Mapped LUNs

Hi List, We need to add and remove directly mapped LUNs to multiple VMs in our Non-Production environment. The environment is backed by an iSCSI SAN. In testing when removing a directly mapped LUN it doesn't remove the underlying multipath and devices. Several questions. 1) Is this the expected behavior? 2) Are we supposed to go to each KVM host and manually remove the underlying multipath devices? 3) Is there a technical reason that oVirt doesn't do this as part of the steps to removing the storage? This is something that was handled by the manager in the previous virtualization that we used, Oracle's Xen based Oracle VM. Thanks! Ryan

upgrading to 4.4.6 with Rocky Linux 8

Hi.. I'm looking to migrate soon from CentOS 7.9 with oVirt 4.3.10 to Rocky Linux 8.4 with oVirt 4.4.6. I'm working on my kickstart of my standalone engine in a VM at the moment. So far, with minimal experience with Rocky Linux, after my kickstart, I was able to run "engine-setup", follow all the defaults and then access my "new" engine via web. I have to explore the actual procedure for installing on my current engine host, and restoring my data. When oVirt team releases new releases, I'm just wondering if you test going from the last previous release (4.3.10 in this case) to each latest release? I know that the documentation says we always need to make sure we update to each individaul major release, but I'm just wondering if this is something that oVirt team tests with each release? I'm very concerned for potential of failed upgrade, and the potential headaches that it could cause. I see the 4.4.6 was released in time with RHEL 8.3. I'd like to use Rocky Linux 8.4 because I believe RHEL has re-enabled mptsas (though I know still unsupported) from 8.4+ which will make things easier. Any additional suggestions or caveats of the upgrade? Thanks for any feedback, Jason.

upgrading gluster brick os from CentOS7 to 8

Hello, I'm in progress of moving my oVirt HCI cluster to production. It was a bit complicated process because I had two new servers to install oVirt from scratch in the lab and three old servers with standalone kvm hypervisors in production. One of them (installed with CentOS7) was good enough to join HCI cluster. All three old kvm servers had production vms running on them. New cluster was installed with CentOS8 and oVirt4.4, I started with single node, then expanded it to two hosts with one another which acts as arbiter (just for stability in lab envirnment). After some testing and tuning I moved this two node cluster (without arbiter node) to my server housing. Then I prepared gluster brick on that one old server which I want reuse and join it to gluster storage so now it is replica 3 - two nodes are CentOS8 based and acts as oVirt hosts, one is CentOS7 and acts also as standalone kvm hypervisor. Then I migrated all vms from standalone kvm hypervisors to oVirt, then switched off two oldest hosts. Now I would like to reinstall CentOS7 node to oVirt host. My plan is to keep gluster brick fs and backup configuration and restore it after reinstall to CentOS8 as mentioned in https://mjanja.ch/2018/08/migrate-glusterfs-to-a-new-operating-system/. I want to speed up gluster healing. Does it make sense? Now the questin: Brick fs was created on CentOS7 and don't have new xfs features FINOBT,SPARSE_INODES,REFLINK. Could it be problem? Will be better to recreate fs in CentOS8 and then do full heal? I am afraid that it will take a long time and make big load to production hosts. TL;DR: Does gluster/oVirt4.4 make use of FINOBT,SPARSE_INODES,REFLINK xfs features? btw. oVirt is great product and HCI looks really functional and usable (with 10GE network and SSDsof course). CentOS 8 to Stream conversion

I have moved all my hosts from CentOS 8 to Stream, but the hosted engine is still Centos 8. Is it safe to use the same conversion of the hosted-engine from 8 to Stream while in global maintenance mode? Windows 10 Guest with nvidia Tesla P40 vGpu Bluescreens when I enable nested virtualization

Hi all, I have this issue when I go to create a VM, I want to run WSL2 but when I install it or windows defender application guard the computer bluescreens. So I am using CentOS 8 stream host connected to a VirtIO cluster the hardware is 2 Nvidia Tesla P40 graphics cards installed on a poweredge R480. My windows 10 20H2 Image would bluescreen after the nvidia drivers are installed. I did some testing and discovered after installing a clean ISO windows 10 20H2 that it worked fine even after installing the drivers for the vGPU but the master image does have WSL2 installed out of the box so I installed it on my Vanilla image and it would bluescreen. I imagine this is due to the nested virtualization and the installation of some hyper-v service maybe it is trying to initialize some hardware acceleration. Has anyone had this issue I really need WSL and would love to use version 2. migrate hosted engine

Hi, I get the following when trying to migrate my HostedEngine VM to a new node in the cluster, I just did node reinstall via HostedEngine and rebuild of the gluster array on that node, bacause its a replacement for a crashed dead old node. Hi, You are probably creating the VM as a dependent on the template (thin VM), it means that the VM's disk should be created on the same storage domain as the template disk. In order to create the VM with a disk on a different storage domain, you can either create the VM as an independent (clone) or copy the template disk to the storage domain you want to create the VM disk on. Libgfapi considerations

Are there currently any known issues with using libgfapi in the latest stable version of ovirt in hci deployments? I have recently enabled it and have noticed a significant (over 4x) increase in io performance on my vms. I’m concerned however since it does not seem to be an ovirt default setting. Is libgfapi considered safe and stable to use in ovirt 4.3 hci?

Node 4.4.6 and Gluster deployment issues

Been beating my head against this for a while, but I'm having issues deploying a new 4.4.6 node hyperconverged cluster. It's a homelab/dev environment, so it's on pretty outdated hardware, SuperMicro X8DTT based systems. No on board raid controller, so that should help at least. Storage drives are a software raid 0 of two 1T SSDs at /dev/md/ovstore and disk traffic is on a separate network from management traffic; ssh-copy-id was run for both interfaces. It looks like it fails when trying to create the volume group on the VDO but I cannot figure out why it's excluded. /etc/lvm/lvm.conf is (should be) default from the install, raid is formatted with no partitions, and I've done a wipefs on the raid. I've been able to complete the same install on these devices with Node 4.3.9, but not 4.4.6. Logs are available at https://pastebin.com/yBzUpe3c

Hi, I updated packages on my system today and ovirt is no longer starting, turns out this is happening because of a selinux denial for a new feature of libvirt-7.4.0-1.el8s.x86_64 https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=1966842 a workaround is suggested in the ticket or you can set selinux to permissive until selinux-policy is updated. I have an NFS storage domain that I used with ovirt 4.4 and I imported it with oracle linux virtualization manager 4.3. As a result, OVF_STORE fails to update. Failed to update VMs/Templates OVF data for Storage Domain [Domain Name] in Data Center [DC Name]. Failed to update OVF disks [OVF_STORE1_diskID],[OVF_STORE2_diskID], OVF data ins't updated on those OVF stores (Data Center [DC Name], Storage Domain [Domain Name]). I recently discovered that the spark-line chart is not displayed in the dashboard of the ovirt admin page. As a result of looking up the code and query, the data of the calendar table in the ovirt_engine_history DB of ovirt-dwh was only available until 2021-01-01 00:00:00, so a query statement ( https://github.com/oVirt/ovirt-engine/blob/master/frontend/webadmin/modules…. RIGHT OUTER JOIN of properties) was not getting the correct data. First, the existing "generate_series('2011-01-01 00:00'::timestamp, '2021-01-01 00:00', '1 hours')" part was temporarily modified and applied until 2051. , it was confirmed that the spark-line chart was displayed normally. For this, is there a way I can directly edit the file (https://github.com/oVirt/ovirt-dwh/blob/master/packaging/dbscripts/upgrade/…) to commit or request a correction? I would like to know.

IPv6 Support

Hello, Reading https://www.ovirt.org/documentation/administration_guide/index.html#IPv6-ne…, I see this tidbit: - Dual-stack addressing, IPv4andIPv6, is not supported - Switching clusters from IPv4 to IPv6 is not supported. If I'm understanding this correctly... does that mean I cannot run some VMs with IPv4, and other VMs with IPv6, in the same cluster? If so, that's incredibly disappointing and frustrating. Is Dual-stack addressing a possible feature request? IPv4 addresses are expensive... and I have a couple of customers who only needs IPv6, so would really prefer to avoid having to pay for IPv4 addresses for them. Sent with ProtonMail Secure Email.

Question about Template and Storage Domain

Hi, Want to ask about template. For example I have a several template (with disk) stored in some Storage Domain. If I create a VM from the template, and when I change the parameter of cloned disk into another storage domain (different with where the template are stored). The VM always failed to be created. This only occurs in VM creation phase, if I create the VM at same storage domain where the templates are stored, it created successfully. Is this are “normal” behavior ? Thanks before. Mount Export Domain only temporary

Hello community, We use a NFS export domain for full backups. Sometimes I have to restart the NFS file server, but when I just restart that server, without doing anything in oVirt (I guess normally I should put the domain in maintenance mode), it can happen that hosts and VMs a crashing. I had one time even the issue, that after a crash one XFS file system on one host got damage and I had to fix that. My though was now, because I make only one time a week a VM full backup, I only mount the export domain in this time. Is there an easy way to do this, with the API? Or would you have a other hint, how to solve this issue? Have a good day! Jonathan

Theoretically you most probably can, but you take the risk of being vulnerable to split-brain. Keep in mind that you can:- update gluster to the same version that is used on oVirt 4.4- update oVirt to 4.3.10 as this is the most tested migration scenario- reduce the volume and remove that 3rd node (don't forget to peer detach)- reinstall with EL8 and install gluster (same version) again. Expected behavior when link of required VM networks down

Hello, suppose I have a cluster with required VM logical network setup. Suppose on hosts I have configured a bonding device with this logical network mapped on it. Suppose an active host for any reason loses the physical connectivity on this bond (both links down or problems with new network config impacting the bond, ecc) So from the VMs point of view, those having a vnic on this logical network will lose the connectivity, but I think they will not detect link down, correct? Is there any expected default action oVirt will take in respect of this scenario or not? Of course I expect to see events with messages about link down. But any automatic action such as live migration of impacted VMs for example? Any configurable one at oVirt level? Thanks, Gianluca

I have a 3 node oVirt 4.2.1 cluster, i'm using a self-hosted engine architecture and storage-engine is on a glusterfs replica 3 of the cluster. The oldest CPU is SandyBridge family (E5-2609) and incidentally it has connectivity problems with IPMI NIC, but Hosted Engine HA is enabled and working. May I reduce the glusterfs replica to 2 and use one of the 3 nodes to begin the installation of ovirt 4.4 on that node? Fedele

oVirt 4.4.5 - Windows Server 2003 VM Reboot problems

Hi All, I've had to migrate a Windows Server 2003 R2 VM from VMWare to oVirt which I have successfully managed to get running. The problem I have is if I try to reboot from the OS I receive the following message after the VM shuts down but doesn't reboot: "Exit message: Lost connection with qemu process." Also any attempt to either shutdown or reboot from oVirt Manager has no effect. I realize that this OS is not supported in the current oVirt version, but is there something I am missing to get it working 'unsupported' please? Regards Simon...

Disk (brick) failure on my stack

yesterday I had a disk failure on my stack of 3 Ovirt 4.4.1 node on each server I have 3 Bricks (engine, data, vmstore) brick data 4X600Gig raid0. /dev/gluster_vg_sdb/gluster_lv_data mount /gluster_bricks/data brick engine 2X1TB raid1 /dev/gluster_vg_sdc/gluster_lv_engine mount /gluster_bricks/engine brick vmstore 2X1TB raid1 /dev/gluster_vg_sdc/gluster_lv_vmstore mount /gluster_bricks/vmstore Everything was configured by the gui (hyperconverge and hosted-engine) It is the raid0 of the 2nd server who broke. all VMs were automatically moved to the other two servers, I haven't lost any data. the host2 is now in maintenance mode. I am going to buy 4 new SSD disks to replace the 4 disks of the defective raid0. When I'm going to erase the faulty raid0 and create the new raid with the new disks on the raid controler, how do I add in ovirt so that they resynchronize with the other bricks data? Problems moving vm & templates between oVirt 4.3 & 4.4

On ovirt 4.4.6, I created a VM and made a template from it. I would like to copy them to oVirt 4.3.7 & 4.3.10 DCs - I saw that Export Domain is deprecated. I tried exporting the VM & template to an Export Domain anyway but, after attaching the Export DOmain on my ovirt 4.3.7 DC, both VM and Template imports failed. The Template import failed immediately without any errors visible in the UI, The VM import failed with the message "General command validation failure." - I tried to do it through a Data Domains as recommended, but: If created on oVirt 4.4.6, I get a Format V5 DataDomain that my oVirt 4.3.7 refuses to import. If created first on the oVirt 4.3 DC, I get a Format V4 Domain. But then importing it on the oVirt 4.4 DC, I get the message: "Approving this operation will upgrade the Storage Domain format from 'V4' to 'V5'. Note that you will not be able to attach it back to an older Data Center." In "Administration > Providers" everything seems supported, from XEN / KVM and even VMware (we have used all three with some success). However oVirt is the obvious missing option... I still have to try "Export as OVA", is that the only supported way? Hi All, I have 2 independent Hyperconverged Sites/Data Centers. Site A has a GlusterFS Replica 3 + Arbiter Volume that is Storage Domain data2 This Volume is Geo-Replicated to a Replica 3 + Arbiter Volume at Site B called data2_bdt I have simulated a DR event and now want to import the Ge0-Replicated volume data2_bdt as a Storage Domain on Site B. Once imported I need to import the VMs on this volume to run in Site B. The Geo-Replication now works perfectly (thanks Strahil) but I haven't been able to import the Storage Domain. Please can someone point me in the right direction or documentation on how this can be achieved. Kind Regards Shimme...

importing vm's from storage pool from 4.1.6.2-1 in to 4.4.6 fails due to lingering snapshot configuration in source

I know the subject is a bit wordy but let me try to explain I have a 4.1 installation that I am migrating to 4.4. I placed the storage domain into maintenance and then rsync'ed it to the storage I am using for 4.4. In 4.4 I import the domain and it comes in fine, however, when trying to import some VM's it fails because it says it cannot find a disk. The disk ID's I cannot find anywhere in 4.1 or 4.4 so I opened OVF_STORE after upgrading the pool in 4.4 and look at the ovf file for some of the VM's that are failing to import I see this in the ovf configuration file - <Section xsi:type="ovf:SnapshotsSection_Type"> <Snapshot ovf:id="e300fa3b-eee4-4b96-9103-45115081db57"> <Type>ACTIVE</Type> <Description>Active VM</Description> <CreationDate>2019/12/19 16:47:48</CreationDate> <Memory>07d3447c-c640-4163-9cf1-74ce126d702a,59b5cfdf-015b-0333-004b-000000000397,8c48ea33-dc34-403a-90d2-a3e78776404c,1757809b-9685-4315-a92e-3ea82dc6d8a8,94a2c2b3-e02e-4b05-80eb-6f4b7a9701e7,248a9fd1-61f0-4c5a-b6ab-4630d433c6fa</Memory> </Snapshot> </Section> </Content> </ovf:Envelope> These are the disk ID's I can see failing to import in engine.log I am aware that importing a VM cannot support snapshots and have found multiple mailing list posts around this, however, I do not have any snapshots visible in 4.1 UI. I also tried modifying OVF_STORE by untar'ing it and editing the ovf files directly, however, this does not work as it ends up overwritten by ovirt with the previous configuration Any ideas? Having installed oVirt 4.4.4 HCI 3 node cluster, the Grafana 'Monitoring Portal' was not visible on the Default page. It appears that Grafana is installed but not configured. I have checked a 4.4.3 environment and it is installed and running, so is this a bug with 4.4.4.7-1.el8? Any help would be appreciated.

Replacing hosted engine on Gluster

I've run oVirt on iSCSI storage for years, and I've had to replace the hosted engine a couple of times (upgrade from CentOS 6 to 7, then moving to new storage). I'm looking at oVirt on hyperconverged Gluster storage. I see pages about how to replace a host, but how do you replace the engine when needed? Is it possible to connect a new hosted engine to the existing Gluster storage? I'm just trying to understand all the differences of iSCSI vs. Gluster before deploying it for real; if there's info online that I missed, feel free to point me to it. Hello; when I try to enter the graphical console to a vm I get the following message: Operation canceled: CA not found. Change the certificates as the procedure says https://access.redhat.com/documentation/en-us/red_hat_virtualization/4.1/ht… And all services: ovirt-engine.service / ovirt-websocket-proxy / ovirt-imagenio-proxy.service / ovirt-provider-ovn.service - are working properly. But there is something wrong. This has happened to someone else when changing the certificates from the ovirt engine to a third-party CA certificate. Thanks.

Hi Guys, We had a 2-node self-supported RHEV cluster that we used for our development environment. We're in the middle of a migration from RHEV over to VMware - one host has already been converted to VMware and we have actively been running VM migrations over to VMware. During the migration, we had an extended power outage and had to improperly shut down the RHEV host. Since bringing it back up we've not been able to start the hosted-engine. Restarting various oVirt services. Nothing appears to be resolving the issue. At this point, the only thing I truly care about is migrating the guest VMs over to VMware. There's nothing else in the RHEV environment I care about. I'm happy to settle with any of the following, providing they can salvage the guest VMs: a) Deleting and redeploying the hosted-engine. b) Abandoning the hosted-engine and some how converting the guest VMs over to VMware. I don't have enough experience to know if any of the above is possible or the repercussions of either of them. Any help from anyone would be very helpful. I'm sorry to be a leach, rather than a contributor. I'm seriously in trouble here and a kind heart would be much appreciated. Thanks, Tim.

Hello, running ovirt 4.4.4.7-1.el8 and gluster 8.3. When i performe a restore of Zimbra Collaboration Email with features.shard on, the VM pauses with an unknown storage error. When I performe a restore of Zimbra Collaboration Email with features.shard off, it fills all the gluster storage domain disks. With older versions of gluster and ovirt the same happens. /var/log has less then 500MB free space left on

Hi, I started to get messages that /var/log has less then 500MB free space left on out of 8GB. du -h —max-depthh=1 reveals that openswitch log dir consumes 3.6GB, there are files as old as 2018. Node software was installed on fresh CentOS 7.xx from oVirt admin web console. I cleaned this directory, yet question remain - why logrotate service is not running by default on oVirt node? Hello All, recently I have changed my firewall and DNS server and I have noticed that engine-setup warns with: Failed to resolve engine.localdomain using DNS, it can be resolved only locally. The command used was: 'dig +noall +answer FQDN ANY' It seems that according to RFC8482, ANY is deprecated and DNS can return anything.Once such example is the output of 'dig wikipedia.org ANY' . fresh ovirt node 4.4.6 fail on firewalld both host and engine deployment

Hello - Deployed fresh ovirt node 4.4.6 and the only thing I did to the system was configure the NIC with nmtui During the gluster install the install errored out with gluster-deployment-1620832547044.log:failed: [n2] (item=5900/tcp) => {"ansible_loop_var": "item", "changed": false, "item": "5900/tcp", "msg": "ERROR: Exception caught: org.fedoraproject.FirewallD1.Exception: ALREADY_ENABLED: '5900:tcp' already in 'public' Permanent and Non-Permanent(immediate) operation"} The fix here was easy - I just deleted the port it was complaining about with firewall-cmd and restarted the installation and it was all fine During the hosted engine deployment when the VM is being deployed it dies here [ INFO ] TASK [ovirt.ovirt.hosted_engine_setup : Open a port on firewalld] [ ERROR ] fatal: [localhost]: FAILED! => {"changed": false, "msg": "ERROR: Exception caught: org.fedoraproject.FirewallD1.Exception: ALREADY_ENABLED: '6900:tcp' already in 'public' Non-permanent operation"} Now the issue here is that I do not have access to the engine VM as it is in a bit of a transient state since when it fails the current image that is open is discarded when the ansible playbook is kicked off again I cannot find any BZ on this and google is turning up nothing. Update of plain CentOS hosts very slow

Hello, I have a 4.4.5 environment that I'm upgrading to 4.4.6. I'm upgrading plain CentOS hosts from the GUI. They are in 4.4.5, so in particular CentOS 8.3 and as part of the upgrade they have to be put to 8.4. In the past I used "yum update" on the host but now it seems it is not the correct way. But the ansible part related to package updates seems to be very slow. It gives the impression that it is doing it one by one and not as a whole when you run "yum update" Now it is about 30 minutes that the update is going on and my internet speed is for sure very high. Rootless Podman container not displaying in oVirt Manager

I deployed a rootless Podman container on a RHEL 8 guest on Saturday (3 days ago). At the time, I remember seeing some selinux AVC "denied" messages related to qemu-guest-agent and podman, but I didn't have time to look into it further, but made a mental note to come back to it, because it really smelled like a bug to me. So, I came back to it this afternoon, and now I see nothing when I look for `ausearch -m AVC` I restarted the `quemu-guest-agent` service with systemctl, and ran `ausearch -m AVC` again, hoping to see some results, but I still don't. I really wish that I had at least copied the AVC message I saw on Saturday for later investigation, but I fully expected to be able to find that information again today. Regardless, I have a rootless container running on the guest VM. When I login to the oVirt Manager and navigate to the VM -> Containers, I don't see anything listed. On Saturday, I thought this was a bug with selinux and qemu-guest-agent. But now, I have no idea. Any thoughts? Sent with ProtonMail Secure Email.

Booting VMs from RHEL ISOs fail

Ever since I deployed oVirt a couple months ago, I've been unable to boot any VMs from a RHEL ISO. Ubuntu works fine, as does CentOS. I've tried multiple RHEL 8 ISOs on multiple VMs. I've destroyed and re-uploaded the ISOs, and I've also destroyed and re-created the VMs. Every time I try to boot a VM to a RHEL 8 ISO, the console just tells me that "No boot device" was found. Can anyone think of any reason why other ISOs would work, when RHEL ISOs do not work? How can I troubleshoot this further? I really need to get a server up and running with Podman. recently upgraded ovirt engine to latest 4.4.6.8-1.el8 but unfortunately ovirt-imageio-proxy service has failed after upgrade. unable to upload iso, vdisks to the storage domains. need help on this, I beleive this is on going issues but hopefully can be fixed with workaround

Maybe my problem is in part linked to an issue seen by Jayme earlier, but then the resolution that worked for him did not succeed for me : I first upgraded my Self Hosted Engine from 4.4.5 to 4.4.6 and then upgraded it to Centos-Stream and rebooted Then I tried to upgrade the cluster (3 ovirt-nodes on 4.4.5) but it failed at the first host. They are all ovir-node hosts, originally first installed in 4.4.5 In Host Event Logs I saw : ... Update of host ps-inf-prd-kvm-fr-510.hostics.fr. Upgrade packages Update of host ps-inf-prd-kvm-fr-510.hostics.fr. Check if image was updated. Update of host ps-inf-prd-kvm-fr-510.hostics.fr. Check if image was updated. Update of host ps-inf-prd-kvm-fr-510.hostics.fr. Check if image-updated file exists. Failed to upgrade Host ps-inf-prd-kvm-fr-510.hostics.fr (User: gpav(a)hostics.fr) ovirt-node-ng-image-update-4.4.6.3-1.el8.noarch was installed according to yum, I tried reinstalling it but got errors: "Error in POSTIN scriptlet" : Downloading Packages: [SKIPPED] ovirt-node-ng-image-update-4.4.6.3-1.el8.noarch.rpm: Already downloaded ... I am getting this error message when I install it on CentOS 7.9 when running the hosted engine setup. [ INFO ] TASK [ovirt.hosted_engine_setup : Validate selected bridge interface if management bridge does not exists] [ ERROR ] fatal: [localhost]: FAILED! => {"changed": false, "msg": "The selected network interface is not valid"} I have two interfaces enp6s0 enp11s0 Enp11s0 is the public network enp6s0 is the storage network to the netapp. Any idea how to resolve this?
