check-merged job for vdsm

Hi, I added recently to check-merged phase a job for automatic functional test run. see for example http://jenkins.ovirt.org/job/vdsm_master_check-merged-fc23-x86_64/52/ https://gerrit.ovirt.org/#/c/48268/58/automation/check-merged.sh - generally, it installs lago in the jenkins machine, set up f23 vm, ssh to it, run vdsm service (in deploy.sh), and the commands in check-merged.sh You can see the commands in check-merged.sh (I'll try to improve the readability there). you can add new tests there by adding them to FUNCTIONAL_TESTS_LIST or calling your own script inside the vm - I think maybe to change it to run all scripts under certain directory instead of the current ./run_test.sh call. I'll see how the usage involves and will improve it. To check your changes before merging you can use - http://jenkins.ovirt.org/job/vdsm_master_check-merged-fc23-x86_64/build?del… which requires jenkins.com login Currently many functional tests under tests/functional are broken - vmQoSTests.py virtTests.py momTests.py that import VdsProxy - please try to fix them or remove them if its not in use. -- *Yaniv Bronhaim.*

oVirt 3.6.3 RC4 merge / tag / bugzilla reminder

All stable branch maintainers, please make sure to merge all relevant open bugs until Tuesday morning 11:00 AM TLV time. https://bugzilla.redhat.com/buglist.cgi?quicksearch=target_milestone%3A3.6.… Every package build (i.e oVirt product) - please make sure every bug in MODIFIED has the right Target Release and Target Milestone. A Target release should state the version of the package you're building and should include the same version you used for the tag you just used for this build. (e.g. for ovirt-engine, tag: ovirt-engine-3.6.3.4, tr: 3.6.3.4) Thanks, Rafael Martins

Fyi oVirt developers, An oVirt build is planned for this Tuesday 11:00 AM TLV time (10:00 AM CET). Taking into consideration the time it takes for Jenkins to run a full CI everything need to be backported by monday 11PM. ovirt-vdsmfake changes

Hi, A small heads up regarding to ovirt-vdsmfake. We merged some changes today which add support for oVirt 4.0 and make it much easier to get started with vdsmfake. With the changes, now it is enough to just run `mvn jetty:run` to have a working vdsmfake. Have a look at the new quickstart guide in the README.md [1] to see how to get started.. Hey, I see that vdsm-cli is installed during the host addition flow. But why isn't it a dependency if vdsm if it is required? - fabian

Request permissions for otopi maintainership

Hi, otopi access lists have as unique member Alon Bar-Lev who recently left the project. Since I work a lot on engine-setup which is based on otopi, I have some good experience with it, and also worked on otopi itself in the past, I'm stepping in, proposing myself as maintainer for that project. [VDSM] Profiling results - 144 cores, 144 vms

Hi all, I noticed that Eldad posted profiling result from 144 cores / 144 vms run: See https://bugzilla.redhat.com/attachment.cgi?id=1128028 Looking at the profile bellow: 1. Why _rtnl_link_alloc_cache is so expensive? called only 389 times, but the most expensive call 2. Creating DomainDescriptor seems expensive - is this xml.minidom? 3. guestagent.py:84(filt) is very expensive - we probbaly want to backport 7091bde guestagent: Speed up xml character filtering, can shave about 17% of cpu time in this run. 4. pthread.py function will disapper from the profile if we replace pthreading with cthreading: https://github.com/nirs/cthreading 5. Why do we see xmlrpc at the top of the profile? Is this the cost of mom calls? Eldad, can you repeat the same test with current master? Partial Python3 support for ovirt-engine-lib

Hi, I recently started adding Python3 support to some ovirt Python packages, mainly to fix bug 1254654 [1]. ovirt-engine-lib package now installs files into Python3 site-packages directory. Please note that not all of the features available in Python2 are already available in Python3, because some modules depends on Python2-only stuff, but current changes are enough to fix the previously mentioned bug. Next step is to split ovirt-engine-lib into separated packages for Python2 and Python3, and port code to implement full Python3 support (bug 1306659 [2]). IPv6 support in oVirt

cpu profile permission error while editing/creating vm

Hi, If you get an error message like the following while editing/creating VM: """ User doesn't have permissions to assign the cpu profile ASFDS with id 3c990c63-8078-4916-bf18-f38596232a5a to VMs. """ Go to Clusters->choose your cluster-> cpu profiles in the subtab-> choose the any cpu profile-> click add in the right frame and add permission for your user with role "CpuProfileCreator".
