It should not take a full hour to migrate as we already made incremental synchronization with the current system but better keep some margin. The system will then take over delivery of the mails but might be a bit slow at first as it needs to reindex all the archived mails (which might take a few hours). To manage your subscriptions and delivery settings you can do this easily on the much nicer web interface (https://lists.ovirt.org) There is a notion of account so you don't need to login separately for each ML.= You can Sign In using Fedora, GitHub or Google or create a local account if you prefer. Please keep in mind signing in with a different method would create separate accounts (which cannot be merged at the moment). But you can easily link your account to other authentication methods in your settings (click on you name in the up-right corner -> Account -> Account Connections). As for the original mail archives, because the previous system did not have stable URLs, we cannot create mappings to the new pages. We decided to keep the old archives around on the same URL (/pipermail), so the Internet links would still work fine. Adding s390 support to oVirt

Hi, as a heads up: I'd like to contribute some basic support for the s390 architecture to oVirt. For that purpose I'll post some patches to gerrit, mostly for the following repositories: VDSM, ovirt-engine-api-model and ovirt-engine. There might be some collateral patches that need to go into ovirt-host[-deploy] since not all of the pre-requisite RPMs are available on s390, but this probably needs a separate discussion. oVirt CI now supports Fedora 27 and Fedora Rawhide

Over the TLV shut-down we took the time to add support for using Fedora 27 as well as Fedora Rawhide in the oVirt CI system. To use Fedora 27 just use 'fc27' as you would for other Fedora versions in the CI YAML files and/or file extensions in the 'automation/' directory. Code owners configuration for GitHub projects

Hi, I recently noticed GitHub enabled a feature that allows specifying code owners for different pieces of code: https://github.com/blog/2392-introducing-code-owners It should supposedly automatically add the proper reviewers to patches. We have similar feature enabled in Gerrit and it might make sense for our GitHub specific projects to do the same. (It might even make sense to follow the same format in Gerrit) Martin Sivak

How to contribute to oVirt Ansible modules

Hello all, As you might already know oVirt has it's Ansible modules for interacting with oVirt via API using Python SDK. These modules are part of Ansible github repository. If you are considering to contribute any new feature to any oVirt Ansible module, there is written a guide[1] specifically for oVirt modules. There is also a general guide[2] for developing Ansible module, which oVirt modules follow as well. So before contributing please read those two guides, which should help to do contribution. Rebasing master Fedora to 27?

Hi, there's a bit of a mess in Jenkins around master on Fedora with some packages built only for version 25 and other only for 26. With Fedora 27 going to be released on November 7th and being it already supported by Jenkins CI, I would suggest to mass migrate master to Fedora 27. taskset (in supervdsm) for all CPUs?

I'm looking at some supervdsm log, and I'm seeing these commands: /usr/bin/taskset --cpu-list 0-55 /usr/libexec/vdsm/fc-scan and: /usr/bin/taskset --cpu-list 0-55 /usr/bin/mount -t nfs -o soft,nosharecache,timeo=600,retrans=6 10.10.10.1:/NFS/images And so on (also for iscsiadm). Why do we need to taskset commands if we allow them to run on all CPUs? Why would we allow them to run on all CPUs anyway?

I was advised to contact this mailing-list in hope to get explanation or possible solution for this issue. The issue is the following: On our oVirt 4.2 master environments, we create VM's from sealed template that has only one vNIC attached to the ovirtmgmt network. Sometimes, and now I am able to fully reproduce it on a specific VM, when I add new vNIC, it gets allocated with lower PCI slot id, compared to what is allocated on the default vNIC. For example, original one got slot id: 0xA, and newer one got slot id: 0x3. The order of slot ID's affects the network 'ethX' naming on the guest OS (RHEL 7.4). Lower slot ID's gets numbered from 0 to N. The problem is that if we had configuration for DHCP on 'eth0' and the order is changed, we can lose connectivity to the host. qemu-kvm-tools: oVirt Node 4.2 can't be added to oVirt Engine 4.1

Hi, just had a look at Bug 1501761 <https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=1501761> - Add the additional host to the HostedEngine failed due to miss the package "qemu-kvm-tools" Issue is that since qemu-kvm-tools has been removed in recent qemu-kvm we dropped it as requirement in 4.2 so it's not included anymore in oVirt Node 4.2. - Is oVirt Node 4.2 supposed to be backward compatible with oVirt Engine 4.1? Additional patches in vdsm - post mortem

All, Recently you could notice few patches being merged and later reverted. I would like to say what happened. Sometime ago I pushed a tag to vdsm-jsonrpc-java and later reused that command from my history to push 6 patches [1][2][3][4][5][6] to vdsm for a review. I did not notice that I pushed for `heads/master` instead of `for/master` this caused to bypass gerrit and the patches were merged. When I noticed what happened I pushed [7] to revert it. I hope no-one was affected. Hello All, I am looking to integrate the collectd gluster plugin to ovirt metric engine , we have gluster metrics which are collected using tendrl collectd plugin. Unable to add host in oVirt 4.2 (clean install)

Since Andrej ran in similar issue today, I'm posting for others: When installing oVirt 4.2 first alpha release from scratch on fresh Centos 7 minimal, adding host failed. Unfortunately, I don't have log messages anymore, but I remember last errors were misleadingly related to ovn (no matter the ovn was not configured on the engine). The issue was resolved by manual installation of python-netaddr package on the host. Subsequently, adding the host in webadmin passed. What package should require the python-netaddr? ovirt-provider-ovn-driver? I hope it helps, Marek

One goal of this project is to move away from reliance on the existing OTOPI-based tools and towards an ansible-based approach. The items below are things we'd like to do using ansible, if possible. If any of you have existing plays or suggestions for the best way to use ansible to solve these problems, please let me know. Thanks! 1. Heads up: post-merge STDCI triggering is coming to GitHub

Over the next few days we're going to review and merge a new patch [1] that will finally provide the capability to trigger STDCI jobs when PRs are merged in GitHub. Once this patch is merged, projects in GitHub that have the proper hook configured, can have 'check-merged' jobs be triggered for them when patches are merged (Please note that this is a different hook then the one that is used for triggering on PR events). Following this we will also review and merge a series of patches [2] which closes our GitHub functionality gap further by providing the ability to automatically build merged PRs or pushed commits and submit them to the change queue for OST testing and publishing. This essentially means that, once mentioned patches are merged, projects in GitHub will be able to fully participate in all the oVirt CI processes. Some aspects of the GitHub functionality are actually a little more advanced then what is currently available for Gerrit. It is not longer needed to specify complex YAML in the 'jenkins' repo. Instead, only a single line is needed to enable the functionality (We left this requirement because we don't want to blindly run jobs for everything that hits the webhook). Everything else, including target platforms and versions can no be specified via a simple YAML file in the project's own source repository. An example of this yaml file can be seen in the 'ovirt-ansible' project. We are working on further documentation and will update when its ready.
