Problem with project names.
by Yaniv Dary
Hi,
I'm Yaniv the maintainer of the ovirt DWH & Reports projects. I see that there are mistakes in the projects page:
- The dwh project is called history this should be changed to data warehouse or dwh and the Bugzilla category from ovirt-engine-history to ovirt-dwh. We will probably add more sources other then the engine db as some point the name should reflect that.
- The reports project Bugzilla category should also be changed from ovirt-engine-reports to ovirt-reports, because the reports will also be based on data not only from the engine, since it's built over the ovirt_history database.
Thanks!

Re: Policy for applying copyright notices
by Jan Wildeboer
Even worse, stripping (c) notes is illegal in many jurisdictions.
Years ago it was eactly what someone did to one of my projects (osCommerce)
and I succesfully sued them in a german court. It was one of the first cases
of GPL in court, BTW and the offender had to restore all original copyrigt
notices.

That is also fine.
Note that if a file is brought to the project it is considered bad form
to strip the copyright notice, so over time we will get a collection of
files with notices and without over time if code is re-used from other
OSS projects.

Not everybody will get sources from git. When distributed as tarball this
info is lost.
It is thus always good to be able to reconstruct from the file contents
itself.

I personally rather dropping the [name of copyright owner] I believe
that's why we have history in the source control.
There is one person adding the file and other X (X likely > 1) people
changing it, I see no reason crediting the one who added the file.
We had a discussion on this in the engine-core project some time ago and
we decided to remove all credits to file creators.
If not accepted as a general rule for all oVirt projects I would like to
suggest that this can be decided/changed on a project level.

[RFC] Moving project planning meeting to IRC
by Anthony Liguori
This came up in today's project planning meeting. How do folks feel about
moving the project planning and future board meetings to IRC?
The advantage of IRC meetings are that the full meeting minutes can be posted in
a public archive. It's significantly easier for many folks to participate in
IRC meetings.
I think the only downside would be if anyone involved is uncomfortable with
using IRC. Using IRC for regular meetings certainly doesn't preclude having
occasional phone calls if necessary.

Need a wiki user account
by Adam Litke
Hi all,
Could someone who already has an account on the oVirt wiki create the account
'aglitke' for me? I would like to add a page for the MOM subproject proposal.
Thanks!

Adam, Isaac,
I have read through the wiki pages
Mom -- http://www.ovirt.org/wiki/Project_Proposal_-_MOM
Nomad -- http://www.ovirt.org/wiki/Project_Proposal_-_Nomad
>From what I see the main information is there, except resources required.
Can we add a section on what infrastructure to create for the project. I.e.
Bugzilla (y/n)
devel list (y/n)
patches (y/n)
commits (y/n)
Other than that I believe we should be good to accept the project into
the incubator based on our updated process.
If you can add that, and I'll start a vote to accept them into oVirt
incubator.
Also...
The details of the incubator that Jim wrote up for us can be found on
http://www.ovirt.org/governance/adding-a-subproject/
I also believe we should write a graduation check list which I will work
on shortly for review.
regards
Carl.

NACK. Accounts per person preferred. Attributiion is based on people, not on
membership in a group IMHO ;-)
So jwildeboer is preferred ;-)

How about if I create a wiki account for everyone on this list (board@)?
